Historia
We understand the stars at a much deeper level, not as legendary figures connected with constellations, but as engines of matter, energy, and the raw material of life itself. The Life and Death of Stars introduces you to this story in 24 half-hour lectures that lead you through the essential ideas of astrophysics - the science of stars. Your guide is Professor Stassun, an award-winning teacher and noted astrophysicist. He provides lively, eloquent, and authoritative explanations at a level suitable for science novices as well as for those who already know their way around the starry sky.

Excellent for someone who knew nothing about music history!
Revisado: 05-06-24
An excellent survey course for someone who knew nothing about the basics of music theory or European masters such as Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven. Enjoyed every lecture and did learn how to better appreciate music :) Highly recommend this course.

Historia
For most of us, the story of mammal evolution starts after the asteroid impact that killed the dinosaurs, but over the last 20 years, scientists have uncovered new fossils and used new technologies that have upended this story. In Beasts Before Us, paleontologist Elsa Panciroli charts the emergence of the mammal lineage, Synapsida, beginning at their murky split from the reptiles in the Carboniferous period, over 300 million years ago. They made the world theirs long before the rise of dinosaurs.

LOVED it! Clarified misconceptions I had about mammal evolution
Revisado: 03-03-23
Absolutely loved learning what we know about early life on Earth based on clues from fossils and rocks. This book also clarified misconceptions I had about mammal evolution (and evolution in general) by describing the fossil evidence and explaining how scientists interpret and classify this evidence.

Historia
Studying zoology made Lucy Cooke feel like a sad freak. Not because she loved spiders or would root around in animal feces: All her friends shared the same curious kinks. The problem was her sex. Being female meant she was, by nature, a loser. Since Charles Darwin, evolutionary biologists have been convinced that the males of the animal kingdom are the interesting ones—dominating and promiscuous, while females are dull, passive, and devoted. But Cooke tells a new story.

Should be a mandatory read for everyone
Revisado: 12-27-22
Read Cooke’s book after Gender From the Eyes of a Primatologist by Frans de Waal and cannot recommend this type of content enough, should be manatory school readings. Will be gifting this book to my father for his birthday.
Audio narration by the author was excellent.
