Historia
Five-year-old Ava Boone vanished without a trace six months ago. No witnesses, no sightings or arrests. But Grace Wright just moved in next door to the only suspect the case had: quiet, middle-aged Leland Ernest. Recently divorced, Grace uprooted her two small children to start again and hopes the move will reset her crippling insomnia. With whispered neighborhood gossip and increasingly sleepless nights, Grace develops a fierce obsession with Leland and the safety of her children. Could she really be living next door to a child-kidnapper? A murderer?

Strange
Revisado: 08-19-23
I will say I couldn't get through it. it was creepy in the wrong ways for a book. The description and obsession of the missing child was unnerving and boring at the same time.

The story is well laid out with likable characters. The plot is a little predictable but pleasant. An enjoyable listen with an interesting narrator.

For celebrated journalist and author Julie Salamon, these recently became central questions. Salamon spent the first 18 years of her life Seaman, Ohio, a town that is part of the American heartland, a repository of mythology and misunderstanding.

not my favorite
Revisado: 08-20-21
It almost feels like the author was more interested in getting the history of the story in then the actual story. The mystery was a little muddy and sometimes hard to follow. She also left all the supporting characters home in New York which leaves new characters which are not as interesting.

good story with an OK performance
Revisado: 05-01-21
It's a nicely done story but the performance and dialog are lacking. The main character is interesting and well developed though she conveniently has some incredible gifts/skills that make doing her job of solving crimes a bit easier. She is quirky though likable. She is very intelligent but still manages an unassuming air about her and has many tendencies that make her relatable. The dialog sometimes feels forced as if she knows she has to fit in certain aspects of the story. The dialog also sometimes feels like a lecture on diverse topics that the readers need to know. The pacing and accents are a bit off but forgivable. The mystery is intriguing but easily solved if you pay attention to the details. There are many interesting characters that are fun to learn about and most have an important part in the story. Though I like a story that wraps up all the loose ends the technique the author uses is a bit obtuse or old fashioned. Everyone is gathered and on the edge of their seats as the main character uncovers all the details and finally reveals the bad guy. Satisfying to know everything but not very creative in the delivery. The presentation and story are much like the main character, a little awkward but once you get to know her she's likable. With all this said I did enjoy the story and would listen to this author again.

entertaining but predictable
Revisado: 04-21-21
I enjoy this narrator's performance of the confident, gritty Joe. Her voice fits her age and personality. The story is interesting and gives an honest if not brutal look into New Yorks elite social crowd. The main character, Joe, is likable and I find myself rooting for her cause. Though at times it's hard to believe such a smart woman could make such bad errors in judgment. But her loyalty and strong allegiance to her friends makes these lapses in judgment excusable. The story moves along at a good pace with relationships and other characters developed throughout. At times the story is a bit predictable but the ending comes to a satisfying conclusion that wraps up all the loose ends. I definitely enjoyed the story and the performance.

a bit darker than anticipated
Revisado: 03-30-21
spoiler alert. Molly takes an assignment overseas and we lose track of all her friends and companions in New York. Unfortunately, no one steps up to take their place and Molly is off on her own. The story takes a dark turn into Ireland's politics and Molly finds herself heavily involved. The ending leaves much to be desired in that it doesn't explore or really wrap up the Pandora's box that it opens. Molly just comes home leaving everything left behind hanging in uncertainty. I just felt the story was a bit out of place for Molly's New life.
