I really enjoyed the evidence-based suggestions presented in an accessible format for the average intelligent consumer. I also liked the pragmatism of “experiment is the way” strategy to make each tool one’s own. I found the book spot on to Ali’s brand- concise, strategic, transparent and immediately practical. Well done!

I love how Goldsmith’s books always lead to introspection and intention-setting. I found his kind candor on aging and the impending transition we all make at some point rather comforting while also inspiring. This book is a great wake up call, IF one actually applies the wisdom shared. That’s the hard part for us all I imagine, the doing better, action. Luckily he provides coaching on how best to start. I recommend this book if you could benefit from living life more intentionally.

I believe this short book offers excellent tips to help one become a better communicator. The tactics and examples provided are thorough yet succinct. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking to improve their communication. I wish I would have learned these lessons earlier in my career. Additionally, many of the tactics resonate with my experience revising my writing in my doctoral studies. I’ve read many communication books and this book beats most of them.

I was surprised to read the criticism of meandering from a person who gave this book a poor review. Thankfully I read/listened still. I appreciate the personal narrative of the author interwoven with the research backing his assertion. I’m incredibly grateful for a text that summarizes multiple scientific studies and refutes the claims of positive-psychology cynics. I also appreciated the addendum offered that adjoins this audio format. This is a great resource for change agents seeking to bring positive psychology to our institutions.

Wow! From the shame vs. guilt dynamic, minding the gap between where we are, to where we want to be, parenting manifesto, to Theodore Roosevelt famous quote—Brené Brown nailed our collective vulnerability as a human race & how to persevere together. The topic of shame so sensitive that at times I personally found hard to return to finish it, but so glad I did. I feel like this book should be the subject matter of an American public health announcements aired in tv akin to the commercials I saw while visiting Vancouver; family-oriented and based in research, very informative and helpful for all.

Can one fall in love with fictional characters? Given this time of unpredictability (the real possibility of end of American democracy and aspirational leadership) Chief Inspector Gamache is my hero. I just enjoy the protagonist’s thoughtfulness, the warmth in his marriage and attention to his relationships. Ms. Penny has truly created such an enjoyable escape, it’s difficult to describe. The lovely Three Pines, life lived in Quebec, psychology, mystery... it’s all so exquisite. I’m a fan. I think this one was even better than the first, if that’s possible in a sequel? Just lovely.

This is the best soul nourishing book I’ve read/listened to in a long time. It’s what I imagine the best sermon, meditation, woosah- spiritual awakening-moment is like. The combination of research science and spirituality informing our imperfect authentic selves is extremely gratifying in a quenching (soul) thirst kind of way. I’ve recommended it to my closest family and friends. A true reminder of our shared humanity. I wish this info were on CNN 24/7. I’m very grateful for this work!

This book I initially put down given the jolting, detailed macabre context of slavery. I literally had to will myself to pick it back up out of respect for those who actually lived this horror. I’m so glad I did. The artfully told story is uncomfortably penetrating, so necessary as a reference for continued vigilance. It is deeply saddening, infuriating and yet humbling in the gratitude of those who’ve sacrificed. It’s a book that expands narrow perspective; it broadens one’s world view.

This quick & illuminating read/listen provides simple, no fuss coaching techniques. Drawn to it for a refresher course, it aptly provided the results I was seeking. The only thing I disliked is (as an audiobook) it sometimes was hard to discern the key questions. But the tips, ex. ask what, not why questions, were poignantly applicable.

This book is chalk full of great advisement. It was however, a rather long audiobook. I feel the same could be said using less "power connector" marketing & repetition. That said it's a worthy listen for someone seeking insight on how best to strategically connect.
