Historia
Bob Lazar was a brilliant young physicist that found himself employed at a top-secret facility in the middle of the desert outside Las Vegas. Under the watchful eye of the government elite, he is tasked with understanding an exotic propulsion system being used by an advanced aerospace vehicle he is told came from outer space. The stressful work and long, odd hours start to wear on Bob and he becomes concerned for his safety. He tells his wife and a couple close friends about what he's doing in the desert, and his employers find out and are furious.

Rubbish & boring

Health warning: you will laugh aloud as you listen
Revisado: 11-23-19
I loved most of this book - a few chapters dragged - but overall a great laugh - a tonic. Such amazing imagination, satire, and sometimes just plain silliness. I listened as I took my daily walks and found that I was walking along the street laughing out loud, causing folks to look at me as if I had a screw loose.

Historia
In the 70,000 years that modern human beings have walked this earth, we've come a long way. Art, science, culture, trade - on the evolutionary food chain, we're real winners. But, frankly, it's not exactly been plain sailing, and sometimes - just occasionally - we've managed to really, truly, quite unbelievably f--k things up. From Chairman Mao's Four Pests Campaign to the sinking of the Titanic; from the American Dustbowl to the world's leading superpower electing a reality TV mogul as President...it's pretty safe to say that, as a species, we haven't exactly grown wiser with age.

Awful. Deplorably bad. Cynical rant.
Revisado: 06-06-19
Author takes some interesting historic factoids and uses them to rant about "what a bunch of idiots" did throughout history. The narrator is straight from a late night UK comedy club. This book shows how to look at history through a sneering cynical lens. I should have guessed from the title, but for some reason I was expecting humourous insights rather that sneering cynicism.

A glimpse into the present (not the future)
Revisado: 01-01-18
Is there anything you would change about this book?
On a positive note, the book started out very well and is often insightful and thought-provoking. The book is a bit too long for the content provided. It also fails to really talk about the future (for example the chapter on "supermoney" never mentions cryptocurrencies. It also uses the "I" word far too often, sometimes feeling like a chronicle of Tim's accomplishments and involvement in the development of technology over the past several decades.
Would you be willing to try another book from Tim O'Reilly? Why or why not?
Probably not - I think he laid out the expanse of his thinking here - and its very good thinking.

Historia
For the first time, Hillary Rodham Clinton reveals what she was thinking and feeling during one of the most controversial and unpredictable presidential elections in history. Now free from the constraints of running, Hillary takes you inside the intense personal experience of becoming the first woman nominated for president by a major party in an election marked by rage, sexism, exhilarating highs and infuriating lows, stranger-than-fiction twists, Russian interference, and an opponent who broke all the rules. This is her most personal memoir yet.

Toooooo long
Revisado: 12-31-17
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
This should have been 30 chapters rather than 97.
Has What Happened turned you off from other books in this genre?
No - I still want to read biographies
Would you listen to another book narrated by Hillary Rodham Clinton?
No - I have great respect for Hillary in many respect, however 97 chapters is too much Hillary. There is a lot of bitterness and catharsis going on. I share all her disgust over Trump, however she goes on waaaay to long.

Historia
Leonardo da Vinci created the two most famous paintings in history, The Last Supper and the Mona Lisa. But in his own mind, he was just as much a man of science and engineering. With a passion that sometimes became obsessive, he pursued innovative studies of anatomy, fossils, birds, the heart, flying machines, botany, geology, and weaponry.

Disappointing
Revisado: 12-31-17
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Likely to appeal to the reader who is interested in a forensic analysis of Leonardo's paintings
Has Leonardo da Vinci turned you off from other books in this genre?
No - the biography genre still appeals to me.
What does Alfred Molina bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I still love audiobook, and the narration was good, unfortunately the issue was with the author's detailed descriptions of the paintings and brushstrokes ... I was more interested in the mind and personal journey of Leonardo.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment. I was a huge fan of Walter Isaacson from some of his other works, Steve Jobs, Einstein, Benjamin Franklin - I had high hopes for Leonardo, but this book didn't measure up. I couldn't finish it.
