The wonderful characters
Revisado: 12-19-23
There wasn’t anything I didn’t like except I wished it could have been longer. I loved how the story advanced by the different characters telling about what happened

Peter and his partner, Detective Tyler McAdams, are thrown into an unsolved case and propelled into action when a body is found in the very woods where a man previously went missing in upstate New York. But that’s not the only crisis that Peter has to deal with. Teresa McLaughlin, the biological mother of Peter and his wife Rina’s foster son, Gabe, has fled to Los Angeles with her two children in tow, hoping to avoid a court injunction amid a messy divorce. So Disappointed
Revisado: 10-17-22
I’ve read every Fay Kellerman book, and this one wasn’t up to her usual excellence. The best part waited to the final two hours. The Decker part (boring left over from previous book) went back and forth with Terry & Donato and WAY TOO MUCH rough sex & sodomy! Really, what were you thinking Fay to finish like this? I’m disappointed and ashamed of you.

My Favorite
Revisado: 07-04-18
I truly adore this book. I’ve read it three times and listened to it twice. Penelope Keeling is my idol. I want my home to be the kind of welcoming place hers was. There is much more to savor here than just a great story.

Historia
Dawn Conners’s parents are famous for finding historic treasures, but she has a knack for losing things - her job, her boyfriend, and now, her reputation. Thanks to a mud-slinging exposé, Dawn’s late great-grandfather is assumed guilty of stealing silver from a century-old shipwreck. Hoping to clear his name, Dawn returns to Starlight Cove, her idyllic hometown on Lake Michigan, where the doomed vessel sleeps beneath the beam of a ramshackle lighthouse.

Took Too Long
Revisado: 05-14-18
This story could gave been told in a book half this long.
I didn’t like the narration when she did the men’s voices. Especially the father.

Historia
"It was a beautiful, breezy, yellow-and-green afternoon..." This is how Abby Whitshank always begins the story of how she fell in love with Red that day in July 1959. The Whitshanks are one of those families that radiate togetherness: an indefinable, enviable kind of specialness. But they are also like all families, in that the stories they tell themselves reveal only part of the picture.

The story could have ended before getting into the Junior/Linney May part. From then on it lost something. Not my favorite Ann Tyler.

Historia
As a detective lieutenant with the LAPD, Peter Decker witnessed enough ugliness and chaos for a lifetime. Now, he and his devoted wife, Rina Lazarus, are ready to enjoy the quiet beauty of upstate New York, where they can be closer to their four adult children and their foster son. But working for the Greenbury Police department isn't as fulfilling as Decker hoped. While Rina has adapted beautifully to their new surroundings, Decker is underwhelmed and frustrated by his new partner, Tyler McAdams, a former Harvard student and young buck with a bad 'tude.

Ending Dissatisfaction
Revisado: 08-21-17
Really enjoyed the character interaction.
I didn't like the narrator's Peter Decker voice. I kept hoping he'd clear his throat. I got used to it but didn't like it.
After all the speculation the ending was a real let down. Guess I wanted something more dramatic.

Historia
Lo Blacklock, a journalist who writes for a travel magazine, has just been given the assignment of a lifetime: a week on a luxury cruise with only a handful of cabins. The sky is clear, the waters calm, and the veneered, select guests jovial as the exclusive cruise ship, the Aurora, begins her voyage in the picturesque North Sea. At first Lo's stay is nothing but pleasant: The cabins are plush, the dinner parties are sparkling, and the guests are elegant. But as the week wears on, frigid winds whip the deck, and gray skies fall.

Tedious at Times
Revisado: 08-17-16
Generally I enjoyed the entire story. However I don't care for the word f--- & heard it too much. Also sometimes I became weary with Lo's thoughts & wanted to say "just get on with it"! I still highly recommend this. Good listen & narrator.
