Historia
It was a cool, quiet evening at Calumet Farm, where the most valuable racehorses—including the prolific stallion Alydar—had settled into their stalls for the evening. Alton Stone, filling in for the regular night watchman, completed his rounds at the barn. Although nothing seemed out of the ordinary, an inexplicable hunch led Stone to check on Alydar. What he found—a grievously injured horse with no discernable cause—jump-started one of the biggest mysteries to ever hit the horse racing world.

excellent detail. desire to share the truth
Revisado: 03-04-25
The author's commitment to telling aladar 's story is compelling.
The book is too and covers the same information repeatedly.
sadly, it is more of a reflection of a horse done wrong rather than Justice for the wrongdoing.

Historia
In 1954, 63-year-old Maine farmer Annie Wilkins embarked on an impossible journey. She had no money and no family, she had just lost her farm, and her doctor had given her only two years to live. But Annie wanted to see the Pacific Ocean before she died. She ignored her doctor’s advice to move into the county charity home. Instead, she bought a cast-off brown gelding named Tarzan, donned men’s dungarees, and headed south in mid-November, hoping to beat the snow.

woman, horse, dog, explore America
Revisado: 01-31-25
The most excellent tale of a brave woman seeking to fulfill her adventurous Spirit by riding her horse plus dog from Maine to California.
Annie did this before interstates became loaded with cars and trucks. She rode secondary back roads originally covered by horse wagon and rider prior to the industrial era.
An unique recount of a spirited woman who took luck by her side to dream and achieve a tremendous goal with her four-legged friends.
most definitely recommend!

As the child of a Hooters waitress and an ex-pro wrestler, Margo Millet's always known she’d have to make it on her own. She’s still figuring things out and never planned to have an affair with her English professor—and while the affair is brief, it isn’t brief enough to keep her from getting pregnant. In The Art of Power, Pelosi describes for the first time what it takes to make history—not only as the first woman to ascend to the most powerful legislative role in our nation, but to pass laws that would save lives and livelihoods, from the emergency rescue of the economy in 2008 to transforming health care.

Revisado: 09-25-24
The narrator is excellent. She is the only quality that saves this book.
I heard the author Sally Rooney interviewed on a podcast. Due to her best-selling book fame, I thought I would open my ears and listen.
Gee was I ever wrong and disappointed ☹️
Sally writes just like she interviews. Vapid, self deprecating, empty answers resulting with her saying "l don't know. . . I don't really understand why I wrote this the way I did . . . I just did. I can't believe I'm so successful . . .blah blah blah"
As the listener, I still don't understand the plot other than Sally using her life as a writer as the main character.
The people in the story meander directionless, doubting themselves, questioning their actions, lacking depth and substance. Nothing insightful unless you're a therapist who can't get enough mental drudgery.
I gave up 75% of the way through the listen. couldn't take it anymore.
I'll stick to non-fiction.
