Historia
Newly qualified teacher Tom Dwyer has been given his first post in Risingdale, a sleepy little village at the very top of the Yorkshire Dales. Unsure if he'll ever fit into this close-knit community, Tom joins a motley staff at the village school. With pupils who know more about sheep than they do arithmetic, Tom has his work cut out for him. Add to that an altercation with the beautiful but stand-offish Miss Janette Fairborn and an argument with the local squire's son, and Tom's first term proves a baptism of fire.

A very smoothing and lovely tale of a rural life in the dales. If you like James Herriot… Phinn Gervase is the pendant including smart and bright children and their ways with animals too

Sorry, the narration is simply not standable. I'm swissgerman and I cannot imagine, how english speaking people would understand all the german words used in the part of Herta - this is just not working. So sad, as the story itself gets 5 stars from me - Narration only 1

Historia
Warum scheitern Diäten? Wegen genetischer Veranlagung?

Braucht sicher disziplin. Mal sehen

aka The Novel in the Viola - I enjoyed the story. If you think about that time, it could have happened like this. In WW II anything was possible. Beeing sent from Vienna to Tynefordhouse in England, young Elise Landau is forced to become a parlour-maid.She knows nothing about England, except that she won't like it. Always expecting to be called off to the USA by her parents, Elise has some difficulties to stick to the english rules. Falling in Love with the son of the House, Kit, she and him expierence all the difficulties and changes in life which an upperclass boy and a jewish 'housemaid' go through.
Still longing to reunite with her parents, she invests her mothers pearls and keeps the newest novel of her father in the hidingplace of the Viola. Life takes it's unordinary way in those times and as sad and not unexpected, if not to say weird turns Elise/Alice's life may take - I was hooked from start right to the end.

Nicht nur für Murmelsammler
Revisado: 04-28-17

That's why Sid doesn't mind wearing a full-body dog suit and going as Scooby-Doo along with Georgia Thackery's Velma to the Halloween Howl. Not a Ghost - but a skeleton
Revisado: 04-18-17
I very much enjoy this series with Sid as the skeleton family companion. Sid doesn't consider himself a ghost. And indeed there are some difrences between him and a ghost. He always has to hide in the armoir when someone knocks o the door. And I always hope all curtains are closed when he sits in the chair reading or watching TV, haha.
In this volume he has a chance to get some fresh air. That's why Sid doesn't mind wearing a full-body dog suit and going as Scooby-Doo along with Georgia Thackery as Velma to the Halloween Howl.
When a girl get's murdered at the haunted house, everybody except the Thackery's think the Scooby-Doo-Person must be the murderer.
Will Georgia find a way to get Sid out of the murder-scene without anyone noticing and if not Scooby-Doo, who is the murderer?

Revisado: 04-10-17
Volume 4 of the Orchard Mystery Serie. This Serie's a highlight so far.
The mother of the main caracter Meg Corey inherited an Apple-Orchard and an old Colonial House. Initially Meg came to Granford in Massachusetts to sell the estate.
But she fell in love with the place and kept on. In this Volume a former friend of her mother is murdered and Meg is not happy with her mothers involvement. But than - could her mother really kill someone? Even if Meg is not very conected to her mom, she has to help her out of this.
I love the development between mother and daughter in this book.

Comforting
Revisado: 03-30-17
This is sooo Marie Bostwick. I'm mostly in for Cozy Mysteries, but inbetween I love the comforting novels of Marie Bostwick. As well as Deborah Macomber, Phinn Gervase and some more authors of this genre.
You may know from the beginning that it will end up good (which almost every tale does), but you get to learn the struggles of life as well as the way you can get the healing out of it.
Comforting, smoothing and with strong women-characters.
Margot Matthews loves her job at the Cobbled Court Quilt Shop and the life and friendships she's made in New Bern, Connecticut; she just never thought she'd still be single on her fortieth birthday. And Margot's friend, Abigail, is trying to match-make even though Margot has all but given up on romance. When Philippa, a new female pastor arrives in town, truth be told not everyone is happy about it. Yet despite a rocky start, Philippa begins to settle in - finding ways to ease the townspeople's burdens, joining the quilting circle, and forging a fast friendship with Margot. When tragedy threatens to tear Margot's family apart, Philippa's friendship - and the help of the quilting sisterhood - will prove a saving grace. And while she untangles her feelings for another new arrival in town, Margot realizes that it is the surprising detours woven into life's fabric that provide its richest hues...
