Awesome!
Revisado: 01-28-23
I really preferred this book compared to the first a lot. It was sweet, fun, and had a good balance of plot and romance. The sex scenes were steamy too. I like that we got to see more of Matt and learn about his life (alongside him even). The narrator was awesome too! The only criticism I’d have is that sometimes I didn’t know who was talking unless the book itself mentioned it, but honestly it didn’t detract from the story or book, really!

Are you smart, scattered, and struggling? You're not alone. Cutting-edge research shows that today's 24/7 wired world and the growing demands of work and family life may simply max out the part of the brain that manages complex tasks. That's especially true for those lacking strong executive skills - the core brain-based abilities needed to maintain focus, meet deadlines, and stay cool under pressure.

Helpful
Revisado: 07-28-21
It’s pretty well organized and helpful when it comes to figuring out your strengths and weaknesses outlined in the book. It’s definitely helpful in giving examples and ideas for how to deal with each weakness as well.
The only thing I hated was the repetitiveness of the later chapters going over the weaknesses and how to change them. After steps 1-3, the “what it looks like in practice” and “action plan” sections were both exactly the same thing in all the chapters and it was kind of annoying that it wasn’t unique for each one.
I only went through the later chapters of my own weaknesses, but I can’t imagine reading through the entire book, because of that.
Overall though I will be implementing some of the things I learned in the book, especially with in regards to working memory and flexibility which are my main two weakness points.

Historia
Vampire hunter and zombie animator Anita Blake is an expert at sniffing out the bad from the good. But in The Lunatic Cafe - now in trade paperback for the first time - she's about to learn that nothing is ever as it seems, especially in matters of the not-so-human heart. Dating a werewolf with self-esteem issues is stressing Anita out. Especially when something - or someone - starts taking out the city's shapeshifters.

I think the pacing was off in some conversations and a few accents were annoying but over all the story was great and read great and I enjoyed this one.

Best of the first three books
Revisado: 02-26-21
I enjoyed this story. There was a good balance of romance and action/mystery. I didn't particularly care for the AIDS comparison to lycanthropy. That's offensive. Her and JK Rowling, I swear. And is she anti vax because of Richard? I dunno. The story was good over all until Jean Claude sexually assaulted her while unconscious and told Richard not to tell her what he was.
The pacing was good. She repeated a lot of words or phrases sometimes but I have that problem in writing to so I get it.
The narrator was PERFECT except when it comes to Jean Claude. I can't stand her voice for it.

I was enjoying this mildly but..
Revisado: 02-24-21
It unnecessarily threw in the word transvestite when it didn't have to for any reason whatsoever. I'm disappointed to see such language from a book published in 2009. It wasn't even relevant to the plot at all, completely out of nowhere, and insulting as hell in the context of a politician being "caught" with one. It was jarring.
The narrator did a wonderful job, though, so it wasn't the worst thing I've ever heard as far as stories go. But this really ruined it for me and I refuse to pick it back up again..

I did struggle to finish though towards the end. I didn't fall in live with some of the characters I thought I might like at first either and the Vlad was a little cliche. But overall it was still well written, Kat is engaging as a character, and I liked it! Just not my favorite so far.

A little less sexy overall, but that's not so bad. Once again, the British accents leave something to be desired but otherwise it's really great and read great. And it's a fun series so far. Can't wait to read the next.

Good read
Revisado: 10-28-20
The story itself was great. Fun, unpredictable, and sexy when it needed to be. I honestly thought I predicted how a character was going to respond, only to be wrong. Not because they were out of character but because it was unique and original story telling.
I really liked this story-first erotica I've listened to and it wasn't awkward for me like I thought it might be. Cat is well rounded and smart, even if I don't like some of her choices. And Bones is my absolute favorite character because he's a guy who isn't afraid to be vulnerable. And not just a little bit but A LOT. He also doesn't lie. It's refreshing to see a guy share his feelings without being uncomfortable. Then again, he's had plenty of time to learn, considering how old he is.
Over all, the performance was the only thing that I felt wasn't the best. Tavia G read well but her voices for the different people were very jarring. It took me out of the story a lot of the time when she switched up to talk like someone else. And her english accent left...a lot to be desired. That said, when it was just normal reading, it was great. Kept me up till 5 am reading this! I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a romantic supernatural story with cishet erotica of the vanilla sort.

Mainstream health science has let you down. Weight loss is not the key to health, diet and exercise are not effective weight-loss strategies, and fatness is not a death sentence. Body Respect debunks common myths about weight, including the misconceptions that BMI can accurately measure health, that fatness necessarily leads to disease, and that dieting will improve health. The authors also help make sense of how poverty and oppression - such as racism, homophobia, and classism - affect life opportunity, self-worth, and even influence metabolism.

Ok but not the greatest
Revisado: 10-07-20
struggled to finish to be honest but it wasn't a horrible read. It just felt like a lecture in some parts and I wanted to get to the rest. I didn't learn as much as I thought I would but maybe that's because this was meant for those who don't know even the bare facts? I'm not sure.

I loved this. I'm crying because of the end but I know what I signed up for, I guess. The readers did a wonderful job of helping me immerse into the story, especially Michael. Everyone who loves angst and romance and can deal with death in fiction should listen to this!
