Listened to this book twice, absolutely loved the book. Great book for both new and experienced counselors. Highly recommend this book for new counselors getting getting started. A wealth of information.

Why do liberals have to politicize everything?

I thought that this was a self help book. Please leave the political commentary out of it. Only listened to about 30 minutes. I was not wanting to read a political book.

Disapointing

Disappointing. I didn't want to hear how bad Jail is, or how she was mistreated in jail, or how she had her first girl crush after 3 weeks of loneliness. I'm about half way through and ready to return it. The only thing that keeps me listening is that it was recommended by one of my clients who is in recovery. Yes jail sucks but there is a reason why it isn't a 5 star hotel.

Update: Finished it. Still disappointed. Why did a book about typical addiction and criminal behavior receive such positive reviews? Did not talk about her path to recovery. Just detailed her criminal behaviors, and her jail stay. How did she overcome her demons? Is she still a Narcissist. Does she still destroy the lives of those around her? (I am assuming yes)

Ironically Intolerant

I would have expected that the author, who wants tolerance of his own lifestyle and choices would be tolerant of others. However it did not feel so. He could not help but make jibes at Christians and Conservatives. As I read the book, I felt that I was on an emotional roller coaster. I was moved by the families stories one moment, and then annoyed with his clear bias the next. If only he could have kept those comments to himself I think I could have really enjoyed this book.

That being said there are a number of redeeming qualities to the book:

Book explores a number of different new types of parenting styles which have becoming more prevalent over the past decade or two. The intent of the book, at least in my eyes, is to open ourselves up to greater tolerance and acceptance of these different forms of parenting.

The books predominant focus on a few types of parents, with clear emphasis on gay parenting. He leaves out some of the most critical new parenting including Grandparents who parent. I wish he had of covered this. With mass incarceration, especially of our minorities we have seen a significant rise in Grandparents who parent.

Overall this book does not have anything to do with new parenting values, but new kids of parents. Parents still love and value there children, there are just new family structures. I am giving this 3/5 stars because there were some amazing stories. He was just too condescending towards people with whom he disagreed for me to give it a better rating.

Unnecessary use of the F word

About 30 minutes in, the author starts using the F-word. I am not sure what she is trying to prove by showing she has no class. Decided to return the book. Nothing in the first 30 minutes made it redeemable.

The Martians are entrenched!

Second book in this series. I liked the first book better, but this is common for me. Middle books aren’t nearly as exciting as the first book in the series. However, I am absolutely looking forward to the third book in the series. There was a lot of character development in this book. Of course, Ray Greenley really brings this book to life.

If you have read the first book in this series, you can’t miss this second book. We really start seeing the challenges the world faces. How can we truly seek to beat this foe when they are so deeply entrenched? Not sure how the author is going to pull this one off, but I am sure anxious to find out. It is helpful to have read the original book, but not necessary.

This is truly a classic and must read for anyone seeking to improve themselves, their community, and their country. I love the timeless truths which were brought to life by the Narrator Kevin Theis.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Anyone interested in understanding their introverted friend, sweetheart, or acquaintance.

CONTENT: Most individuals with introversion already know this information intuitively, but it is nice to be able to share with our sweethearts and friends so that they understand why we sometimes act the way we do. This book is the kind of book that I would like to give to friends in my life.

NARRATOR: Great job narrating this book. It was easy to listen to.

OVERALL: I loved it, my brother loved it, and my son loved it!
