Obviously meant to set up the story and world so not a lot happens in the first 3/4 then a lot of action at the end. Overall, an interesting story.

The narrators are decent but the story itself is pretty cringey at times and doesn't make a lot of sense. The attitudes toward romantic relationships were very juvenile and unrealistic for the age of the main characters.

Serious Trigger Warning

I made it through the first book okay but couldn't finish the second one due to the amount of sexual assault and emotional/psychological torture that takes place. I love dark romance but the flippant way the events were discussed made me so uncomfortable I had to turn it off. Some readers might enjoy it but the lack of character development made the horrific details stand out that much more.

Poor Narration

The male narrator made the whole book feel cheesy. He was so over the top it could have been a joke. the female narrator did a great job.

Stockholm Syndrome-y

FMC has no agency until the very end and has a strange attraction to her perceived tormentor even before any real connection is made. It's pretty well written but I probably won't continue with the series.

Very Intense

The middle to end of this book almost make up for the gruesome abuse the heroine endures in the first half but there are some scenes (one in particular) that were incredibly hard to get through.

GoT-esque

If you like fantasy, especially Game of Thrones, this book is for you! this author does an amazing job of creating an incredibly detailed world and all of the voice performers are really great.

Tear-jerker with a HEA

The narrators were only okay. Both had a hard time voicing th opposite sex. Definitely heartbreaking at times but had a nice HEA

I thought the narrators were great but there were times when it felt like the heroine was being gaslit by not only the hero but her friends and family as well. I was really excited for this book since the male lead was a side character in another novel of this author's but must admit I'm disappointed. There is a nice HEA though.

Good Story - Iffy Narrator
