Historia
Isabel Gibson has all but perfected the art of forgetting. She’s a New Yorker now, with nothing left to tie her to Brinkley’s Island, Maine. Her parents are gone, the family bookstore is all but bankrupt, and her sister, Sophie, will probably never speak to her again. But when a mysterious letter arrives in her mailbox, Isabel feels herself drawn to the past. After years of fighting for her independence, she dreads the thought of going back to the island.

One hour book
Revisado: 10-05-24
This is a sweet story, but I really wish I had paid attention to the length before purchase. One credit for a one hour read.

Drama!!
Revisado: 10-05-24
I love Mesu Andrews’ books! BUT I could not finish this one. I want a story; this is sheer drama. I love twists and plots; this is dramatic scene after hugely dramatic scene. I love good characters; there are drama queens, drama kings, even drama cooks. It is just too much for me to finish.

I loved the book!
Revisado: 06-10-24
I loved having the picture of Eden and possible life scenarios of Adam and Eve painted so brilliantly. The story is wonderful, even if this was not the best choice in narrator.

All politics - if there is more, I couldn’t find it
Revisado: 09-26-22
If you want to listen to one man rant about politics and politicians, this book is for you. I am neither for, nor against either party, so don’t sell me something filled with your opinions. I expected to learn something more than your political stance. No thanks, Mr. Lewis.

I thought I must have made a mistake
Revisado: 09-26-22
I LOVE Alice Hoffman and mark her as in my top 3 favorite authors. I almost feel as if I am betraying her with this review, but I literally opened the app to be sure that somehow the wrong book had not been added to my library. I found myself repeatedly thinking “AH COULDN’T have written this.” There were several instances of sad, even heartbreaking occurrences that did not add anything to the story other than sadness. They were totally unnecessary.
There are also several areas in the recording that skip portions of narration and the narrator may be excellent, but she was all wrong for this book. I am almost as disappointed in myself for not liking the book as I am in the book itself. Sorry, Alice, but…

Historia
Throughout the 10 stories in You Think It, I'll Say It, Sittenfeld upends assumptions about class, relationships, and gender roles in a nation that feels both adrift and viscerally divided. With moving insight and uncanny precision, Curtis Sittenfeld pinpoints the questionable decisions, missed connections, and sometimes extraordinary coincidences that make up a life. Indeed, she writes what we're all thinking - if only we could express it with the wit of a master satirist, the storytelling gifts of an old-fashioned raconteur, and the vision of an American original.

WHY would one waste their time?
Revisado: 01-12-20
This book is so common to everyday life that I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why I or anyone else would give more than ten minutes of wasted time. The stories are full of characters one would hope to never have as a friend and political opinions that, whether you agree or not, are everywhere. WHO wants more politics in their life? WHO wants to hear more opinions on politics? WHO CARES what an authors political opinions are?
There is no escape, no lessons, no body, no humor, no joy, no empathy, nothing remarkable whatsoever about this book; and therefore, no reason to spend my valuable time or money. I chose the book because it was a book club book of the month. Hereafter, I will be much more cautious in trusting that book club recommendations. I will return this book.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

My favorite book of 2019, to date.
Revisado: 09-26-19
I loved this book! The beginning was somewhat slow, but all needed to give atmosphere and backbone to the story. As the book progressed I found myself cheering for goodness, happiness and justice for Kya like no other character I remember. What a beautifully poignant story. I didn't want it to end and actually missed her (Kya) once the book was finished. I feel like many of the poor reviews either didn't get into the book beyond the first few chapters or have no heart for such a story. Based on the wording of some of the reviews, it seems they were looking for entertainment rather than a connection. Nothing wrong with that, but I think it's unfair to write a negative review of a book because you chose wrong or you didn't give the book more a chance than just a few paragraphs.
