Historia
Wounded five times and awarded numerous decorations for valor, Gottlob Herbert Bidermann saw action in the Crimea and siege of Sebastopol, participated in the vicious battles in the forests south of Leningrad, and ended the war in the Courland Pocket. In his memoir, he shares his impressions of countless Russian POWs seen at the outset of his service, of peasants struggling to survive the hostilities while caught between two ruthless antagonists, and of corpses littering the landscape.

Excellent combat memoir
Revisado: 05-24-22
I’ll admit it took quite a while for me to get to this memoir despite the amazing reviews. My issue was the narrator. After listening to other more emotionally charged narratives this wasn’t easy on my first go. However after listening to tigers in the mud (same narrator) it was speaking to hear another tale by the same narrator. This memoir is the total package however, the journey begins in southern Russia and the crimea. After their victory over the soviet fortress of Sevastopol he is transferred elsewhere. I don’t want to give the book away so I’ll leave it there. Simply an amazing tale in regard to his weaving together the human suffering of war. A war with all of its insensitive horrors and senseless death. This man was a patriot and I salute him. True the nazi party was evil. But to associate each INDIVIDUAL soldier as the nazi party incarnate is a historical error.

Historia
Four US Navy SEALS departed one clear night in early July 2005 for the mountainous Afghanistan-Pakistan border for a reconnaissance mission. Their task was to document the activity of an al Qaeda leader rumored to have a small army in a Taliban stronghold. Five days later, only one of those Navy SEALS made it out alive. This is the story of the only survivor of Operation Redwing, SEAL team leader Marcus Luttrell, and the extraordinary firefight that led to the largest loss of life in American Navy SEAL history.

Very moving
Revisado: 10-12-21
This story is very moving. I literally had trouble listening to what happened to his team in front of his eyes. The emotions in this book and narrative was EXCELLENT!
Note: Despite what the negative review liberal media lovers (AKA Anti American hateful propaganda) would have you believe everything this man says is true. War is hell, that is not just some saying.. it’s TRUE people die in horrible ways and it’s a crime in its own rite under gods eyes. HOWEVER!!, when we make the decision to go and engage in war.. we cannot dictate these men’s jobs for them. They are elite because they earned that rite by passing physical and mental tests the average person like myself cringes to think of. I support our military and love my country god bless these men and their family and friends. I have to admit I was in a way saddened by the thought that I didn’t join the military or live in a state where your neighbors and friends actual care in the way this mans friends did. Excellent story… excellent people

Historia
The rulers’ mistakes are paid for with the blood of the people. This is shown in history both recent and ancient, time and time again. It was no different for an Austrian mountain farmer’s son who was thrown into the carnage of the Eastern Front. He was in the prime of his youth, and the German Reich was already close to losing the war. In ripe-old age, he remembers those dark hours that have haunted him throughout his life.

Emotional personal Narative
Revisado: 10-03-21
I have listened to many books on the eastern front. The emotions involved are timeless. This book holds true to those emotions. These incredible young men were just high school aged boys seniors maybe even a recent graduate. The things these men went through were heart wrenching. Unfortunately, many of them didn’t get to go home or fall in love or even see their mother just one last time. This narrative is accurate and touching. I trust you will enjoy it.
