Revisado: 04-12-25
Takes getting used to. Nearly quit but stayed on. Found I was interested in an odd group of characters. Seeing Africa from a different perspective. I will go on to the second book.

Historia
Pierre Grimard’s dream was to leave his boyhood home in France and voyage to America. He longed to begin a new life, business, and family in the French settlements of the faraway frontier in the Illinois country. Ten years later it seemed that Pierre had fulfilled every one of his dreams. He had a beautiful, devoted wife, a home full of children, and a thriving business in the French trading outpost at Vincennes on the Wabash River.

This for me is the best one so far. The journey from New Orleans to Vincennes.not at that point directly related to the Revolution but would enter their lives and change their world. One of the lesser known parts of the war. Have one more book in this series to read and hoping that Mr.Baggett will keep adding on to these wonderful stories.

Historia
Commander David Bryce returned from his mission, successful, with a derelict alien ship that wasn’t as empty as predicted. With the assistance of an old ally, David is hell-bent on stopping the invasion before it begins. There’s just one problem; the Signal is hidden somewhere on Earth. Atlas Donovan is the only man capable of helping them, and it’s unclear whether he can trust the ORB employees. One thing is clear: Aliens have been to Earth, and from the looks of it, not just a single race. There were two.

Kinda like it came off the assembly line.Lost interest after about 3 hours. Pretty much new where it was going. Stock characters. Tropes. Checked all those boxes. In these stories I know the future because I know the past.

Historia
The British have invaded Charlestown and the Revolutionary War has descended with a vengeance upon the sleepy southern frontier. Oppression, privation, and fear overwhelm the villages and homesteads of North and South Carolina. The Patriot cause seems all but lost. James and John Hamilton are violently drawn into the war by forces seemingly beyond their control. Since their early childhood these brothers have survived rejection, hunger, death, tragedy, and loss. But will they survive the bloody onslaught and depravity of the Redcoats and their Tory allies?

Excellent story characters well developed. Narrator would have been better suited to read children’s stories. Have already purchased rest of series and am looking forward to new Narrator and stories.

Historia
Seventy-five years ago, the dragons fell from the sky. We thought they were just meteorites - six terrifying explosions rang the world like a bell. When the dust settled, we went on with our lives as though nothing had happened. More than a decade later, five of the eggs hatched. The dragons that emerged were small and weak. They kept to the shadows, working in secret to persuade people to do their bidding, offering magic as payment and reward. Years passed...and still we didn't notice the evil growing in our midst.

Don’t bother
Revisado: 09-16-24
No tension. You would think a group called the Dragon Guards would be a bad ass bunch. Turns out they were an incompetent bunch with practically no military sense who couldn’t defend against a newborn litter of kittens. The usual tropes and characters. One other reviewer said the characters were one dimension and I agree. Seems that the fantasy genre is in something of a slump.

Historia
Working at a dead-end retail job in the middle of nowhere can be hard. The long hours. The helpless customers. The enormous eldritch horror living deep below the building. As the only full-time employee at the 24 hour gas station at the edge of town, Jack has pretty much seen it all. But when he decides to start an online journal documenting the bizarre day-to-day occurrences, he unwittingly attracts the attention of much more than just a few conspiracy theorists.

When you need a break from day to day
Revisado: 08-30-24
I have 2 series I go to when I need a break from life’s overload of dreary news and toxic political rant. Space Team by Barry Hutchison narrated by Phil Thon and Tales from the Gas Station by Jack Townsend narrated by MrCreepyPasta. I’m thinking probably Jack Townsend. Thank you guys for injecting the humor wrapped in a good story and wonderful narration. Love Phil Thons laughing through some of Hutchison funniest lines at the end.

Historia
The island of Iwo Jima was the epic land and sea battle that produced one of the iconic images of WWII: the Marines raising the American flag on Mount Surabachi, an active volcano that was the site of intense hand to hand combat. In this gripping novel, P. T. Deutermann follows a young gunnery liaison officer, Lee Bishop, who during the ferocious battle for the island is pulled from his station aboard the USS Nevada to serve onshore as a spotter, calling in coordinates for the ship to target with missiles.

The true horror of war
Revisado: 08-12-24
Tough listen very realistic in that there were no last minute miracle saves or breaks in the attrition. This is the soul destroying effects of war. No handsome hero who comes out battered but victorious in the end. Even though this battle advanced the defeat of Japan for the soldiers on the ground this battle would never go away.

Historia
Shiloh. In Hebrew it means "place of peace". An apt name for a tiny Methodist chapel close to the banks of the Tennessee River. It has borne witness to christenings, weddings, and funerals. Its parishioners are thankful for their peace. Peace, that is, until Grant's Union army arrives to take up every available space in and around the church and on all of the community's farm land. They Met at Shiloh is a civil war historical novel.

Have both the Audible productions of the Shiloh series. Very good story, well developed characters. Narration not so good. The quality of the story kept me going and finished the first book. I will also listen to book 2. But please Mr Bryant if you are going to do the entire series which I hope you will I strongly recommend you don’t do the narration. I travel a lot and listening really helps make the ride more pleasant. Thank you for a wonderful series.
