The most engaging mystery I’ve read in a long time and I don’t really like mysteries. This book has it all, coming of age, love, friendship, grief, loss, secrets, supporters and haters. Loved every minute and was surprised by the ending - in a good way.

Slow start but stick with it!

A great story about the life and the journey of male friendship. I appreciated that perspective as I have limited insight into it. I loved the relatable characters and appreciated how the story took you from being a young adult to past retirement. Describing how every stage of life presents hiccups and hurt feelings.

Skip! The book is a total downer and buzz kill.

I really liked Claire Lombardo‘s previous books, but this was a total letdown. I literally felt depressed, anxious and sad for the future of 58 year-old women in America reading this. The main character is really hard to listen to and relate to.

The entire book blah, uneventful, drawn out, could have been cut in half. I kept listening to figure out what Helen Russo did or did not do.


I recommend investing your listening time and something else.

Get it! Funny, charming and so human.

Loved this book. I found myself irritated, eye rolling and sighing as the chapters went on. Rainbow does a great job of describing what teenage and young adult relationships can be like.

It’s heartwarming, awkward, the evolution of friendship and brought me back to young love.

Okay, not worth the hype.

It’s just okay, took me a couple hours to get invested. Even then, the whole book was so over the top, not believable or relatable. Complex main character who lives through the injustices of Hollywood in the 1950-1980s.

A tale of survival, love, business and how life is rarely as if seems.

This book was easy to listen to. I love the cultural relevance. I love the storytelling aspect. Although the book covers some heavy topics, it wasn’t heavy to listen to.

I love the production of the audio part narration part podcast. It was fun and different. Love the storylines with some really hilarious scenes and relatable scenarios. I didn’t love this book at first, it took me about 1/4 of the book to fall into a groove.

Must read for first generation brown chicks that leave home bound for college!

Fun characters, heartbreaking and heartwarming, all at the same time. Some of the scenes were so real, it was cringy and surreal. I loved how this story recounts what happens to young women when they fall in love, leave the nest for the first time and venture to explore something that lights them up.

The voiceover of Anita can be a bit intense at times but stick it through.
