A stunning, hilarious memoir displaying Koy’s “wide-ranging comedic talent and abundant wells of perseverance” (Kirkus Reviews, starred). Mixed Plate illuminates the burning drive and unique humor that make Jo Koy one of today’s most successful comedians.

The Story Behind the Comedy
Revisado: 05-28-21
I loved this book! Jo Koy is such an amazing talent and hearing his story about growing up and the struggles to make it in comedy was at turns fascinating, heartbreaking, and inspirational. Jo does an amazing job narrating and making the story come to life. I love that he included impressions which just made the story so funny. I highly recommend not only this book but taking the opportunity to see Jo Koy live if you ever get the chance. He is truly hilarious! I saw him live in Denver before I really knew how funny he was and it was one of the best shows I have ever seen. Read this book and go see Jo Koy! You will not regret it!

Historia
Meet Eleanor Oliphant: She struggles with appropriate social skills and tends to say exactly what she's thinking. Nothing is missing in her carefully timetabled life of avoiding social interactions, where weekends are punctuated by frozen pizza, vodka, and phone chats with Mummy. But everything changes when Eleanor meets Raymond, the bumbling and deeply unhygienic IT guy from her office.

Historia
On a summer night in 2009, three lives intersected in one American neighborhood. Two people newly in love - Teresa Butz and Jennifer Hopper, who spent many years trying to find themselves and who eventually found each other - and a young man on a dangerous psychological descent: Isaiah Kalebu, age 23, the son of a distant, authoritarian father and a mother with a family history of mental illness. All three paths forever altered by a violent crime, all three stories a wake-up call to the system that failed to see the signs.
