What a Let Down

I loved this series. Now, though, I feel like I wasted several years of my life investing into this series just so the author could kick me in the crotch and laugh as I roll on the ground asking, "Why?"

Good story, a shame it's porn

Great Concept, Too Many Stat Breaks

This is a wonderful concept for a Lit-RPG. The protagonist wants to help people learn and grow, not try to save the world himself. Stat blocks don't translate from reading text to being read to me in an audio book very well, so I'd be happy if these were abridged for the audiobooks in the future and only mentioned new skills or important updates.

Dip in Quality from Books 1-3

The narration continues to be excellent. However, the editing falls of dramatically in this book compared to the earlier ones. It feels like the author was rushed and that some chapters weren't even edited at all. Still not as bad as some others in the genre I've listened to, but I really hope the next book gets better treatment than this one.

The characters have flaws and actually take steps to address them, not just batlle weaknesses, but actual personalities. Hard to find in this genre.

Sociopaths Every

A lot of the characters in this book suffer from sociopathy, including the protagonist and one of the main antagonists. It makes parts of the book very disturbing to listen to. I will not be continuing this series.

It's Fine. Not as Good as Noobtown.

I made it about halfway through before I couldn't keep going. It is funny enough, and the narration is superb, but it was difficult to keep up with what was happening with all of the jumping around. It would probably read better than trying to listen in the background as an audio book.

I was also frustrated by the arbitrary rules. Sometimes "5e" rules matched Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition, and sometimes they did not. As someone who has played D&D extensively since 3.5, hearing someone state the rules of "5e" are such and such when that is not the case was extremely irritating.

Needs a Warning for Sexual Violence

It seems the series is getting darker exponentially with every book. It is becoming less enjoyable with each chapter. The raid on the goblin camp was especially egregious.

I'm done with this series now

The story has burned out by this point. The writing/editing is a bit better, but still a ton of high school C grade mistakes. There is just so much use of the same adjectives over and over and needlessly verbose descriptions of Zach's internal monologs that do nothing to develop the characters or the world or push the plot forward. It's time to find a new series.

Ends in the middle of a scene

This books ends directly in the middle of a scene. Thankfully the next book was out by the time I listened to this one. The story is still interesting. The author still desperately needs an editor. The narration is good, but many of the side character voices sound very similar.
