Historia
The fall of Constantinople in 1453 signaled a shift in history and the end of the Byzantium Empire. Roger Crowley's listenable and comprehensive account of the battle between Mehmed II, sultan of the Ottoman Empire, and Constantine XI, the 57th emperor of Byzantium, illuminates the period in history that was a precursor to the current jihad between the West and the Middle East.

Historia
Enrique Prado found himself in his first firefight at age seven. The son of a middle-class Cuban family caught in the midst of the Castro Revolution, his family fled their war-torn home for the hope of a better life in America. Fifty years later, the Cuban refugee retired from the Central Intelligence Agency as the CIA equivalent of a two-star general. Black Ops is the story of Ric’s legendary career that spanned two eras, the Cold War and the Age of Terrorism.

Prolific Liar. Horrible book
Revisado: 05-26-24
Reading Ric Prado's latest book was a deeply disappointing and frustrating experience. The memoir, purported to provide an inside look into the life of a CIA officer, falls painfully short of delivering anything of value or credibility. Instead, it reads like a poorly constructed web of half-truths and outright lies.
First and foremost, Prado's narrative is riddled with inconsistencies and self-aggrandizing tales that lack any verifiable substance. His attempts to paint himself as a heroic figure in the world of espionage come across as nothing more than desperate attempts to rewrite history. The book is filled with exaggerated claims of bravery and cunning that strain credulity, making it impossible to take any of his accounts seriously.
Moreover, Prado blatantly fails to address his own dubious past. The book conveniently glosses over or outright ignores his alleged involvement in criminal activities that have been well-documented elsewhere. This glaring omission is not only disingenuous but also an insult to readers seeking an honest portrayal of the author's life and career. Instead of owning up to his past, Prado hides behind a facade of selective storytelling, attempting to deceive readers into believing a sanitized version of events.
The writing itself is a chore to get through. It's clear that Prado is no literary talent; the prose is clunky, repetitive, and lacks any real depth or insight. The dialogue is stilted and unrealistic, and the descriptions of events are often so vague and poorly detailed that they fail to conjure any vivid imagery or engagement. It's hard to believe that a seasoned operative like Prado would produce such an amateurish and uninspiring piece of work.
In conclusion, Ric Prado's book is a colossal failure on all fronts. It's a deceptive, poorly written account that fails to deliver any genuine insight or truth. Prado's refusal to confront his criminal past further undermines the credibility of this already deeply flawed memoir. Save your time and money, and steer clear of this dismal excuse for a book.

Historia
The Irishman is an epic saga of organized crime in post-war America told through the eyes of World War II veteran Frank Sheeran, a hustler and hitman who worked for legendary crime boss Russell Bufalino alongside some of the most notorious figures of the 20th Century. Spanning decades, Sheeran’s story chronicles one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in American history, the disappearance of legendary union boss Jimmy Hoffa, and offers a monumental journey through the hidden corridors of organized crime: its inner workings, rivalries, and connections to mainstream politics.

The liar with no life insurance.
Revisado: 08-18-17
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Anybody living outside Detroit who doesn't understand the unique dynamics of how the Detroit LCN is different from other mafia families in America. The book is in fact a non-fiction book with major dramatic fallacies. Frank Sheeran did not kill Jimmy Hoffa.
What could Charles Brandt have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Walk away from the B.S lies that Frank Sheeran was spewing and wrote a general book about the Detroit LCN and compiled a series of theories on Hoffas death.
What didn’t you like about Scott Brick’s performance?
He was good. I like his style.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment. "Supplying guns to Lee Harvey Oswald" Child please. That entry killed his credibility in an instant.
Any additional comments?
This book was written by a liar with no life insurance who spent the majority of his life as an expendable hitman for the mob.
The fact that he was Irish exonerates him from killing Hoffa. Anyone that understands the Detroit mob knows that unlike other mafia families in America, they are a real family blood related and never allow anyone non related to remotely even get close to them let alone do a hit as big as this.
The saying goes in Detroit, if they didn't know you when the umbilical cord was cut, they don't know you.
Frank Sheeran was caught in lies numerous times in the making of this book. The sole purpose was to leave his daughters money when he was dying. I repeat this story is not true.
Hoffa was killed, but only by trusted LCN members of the Detroit family. Where and how is irrelevant. On that note, Sheeran was right about one thing. Hoffa went to Australia.

Interesting book, nothing new.
Revisado: 03-03-17
I found this book to be relatively interesting and definitely worth the read if you were in a medically induced coma in 2016.
The book explains how president Donald Trump won the presidential election but does not really shed any new light, I was expecting a lot more behind the scenes stories, but nothing. More of an opinion piece. Not withstanding a decent book.

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Good book, no BS. It keeps it real
Revisado: 12-13-16
I was skeptical about a 32-year-old giving me life advice, but being the open-minded person that I was I gave him a chance. The book was very well written and certainly a benefit to me. I highly recommend this book for those struggling in life with the old yet ubiquitous question where is my life going? Why am I not happy? This book is not going to solve your problems but it certainly will give you a blueprint to help you. If you're a weak person, and want to be told what you want to hear this book won't help you. But if you're looking for a brutal honest truth this is the one. Yes I was skeptical about a 32-year-old giving me life advice, I am glad I gave this book a chance and read it it has helped me not give a fcuk.

The notorious Gotti family is the stuff of mob legend. The "Dapper Don", John Gotti Sr., and his son John A. "Junior" Gotti ran New York's powerful Gambino crime family and were well known for their flamboyant style and brutal ways, an image perpetuated in popular Mafia mythology. John Alite, a mob hit man, associate, and close friend of the Gottis, has a very different story to tell.
