Historia
Seventeen-year-old Victoria Nash runs the household on her family’s peach farm in the small ranch town of Iola, Colorado—the sole surviving female in a family of troubled men. Wilson Moon is a young drifter with a mysterious past, displaced from his tribal land and determined to live as he chooses. Victoria encounters Wil by chance on a street corner, a meeting that profoundly alters both of their young lives, unknowingly igniting as much passion as danger. When tragedy strikes, Victoria leaves the only life she has ever known.

Please tell me a sequel is coming!
Revisado: 11-01-24
Beautifully written story of love and loss and so much more! My only complaint is regarding the narrator; somehow her acting just didn't fit the character for me - especially the male voices. I just don't think she had the right tone for this one. That said,
my heart broke a million times for Victoria and there is more to tell. Please write a sequel !!

Historia
Joey Green has returned to Beaufort, South Carolina, with its palmettos and shrimp boats, to look after his ailing father, who is succumbing to dementia, while his overstressed mother takes a break. Marshall Green’s short-term memory has all but evaporated, but his oldest memories are more vivid than ever. His mind keeps slipping backward in time, retreating into growing up in Beaufort as a boy. At first, this seems like a blessing of sorts, but Joey grows increasingly anxious as his father’s hallucinatory arguments with figures from his youth begin to hint at deadly secrets.

With the male characters - Female voices were a little overacted and some sounded similar. I kept needing to regroup and remember who was speaking. The story was interesting take I liked it a lot

This book took me a long time to get through. So many characters and nuances important to the story I had a hard time keeping organized in my head. There is a lot to unpack but I enjoyed it. Claire Foy narrating - a million stars! A very deep and thought provoking story

Historia
At the end of the Second World War, Cyril Conroy combines luck and a single canny investment to begin an enormous real estate empire, propelling his family from poverty to enormous wealth. His first order of business is to buy the Dutch House, a lavish estate in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia. Meant as a surprise for his wife, the house sets in motion the undoing of everyone he loves. The story is told by Cyril’s son Danny, as he and his older sister, the brilliantly acerbic and self-assured Maeve, are exiled from the house where they grew up by their stepmother.

Beautifully Layered
Revisado: 12-23-23
I loved this book - Tom Hanks - come on! Although the story is not action packed - it is beautiful, simple, thought provoking. the characters were all flawed in their own ways and spent their years working through their heartache and loss of childhood - which of course is represented by the house itself. I just enjoyed this very much and will find more by this author. I will be thinking about this one for awhile.

I enjoyed this very much. Although the narrator was vey good - I would have appreciated a female narrator for this one. The story was fascinating and I didn’t realize until the end was based on a true story. Mary Draper Ingels needs more attention in history. She does have a statue and a yearly celebration in her honor !

Wow - Second listen is NOT what I recall !
Revisado: 08-25-23
I listened to this several years ago and recalled it fondly. Since its part of the plus plan I listened again. The second time - wow so many issues! Anna is a hot mess! Roofied, date raped and impregnated in high school -she begins her life of martyrdom. Apparently it was not OK to file charges following a violent sexual assault and was something to be ashamed of ! The baby is what life has given her so she lies in the bed life made for her. Her now college aged daughter has been lied to her entire life with mom's gay best friend posing as her father. Anna has had 18 years of apparent celibacy so she is very naïve to dating, sex and men in general. she's spent her time taking care of her Daddy's house and cooking for him when marriage to gay best friend didn't work out... he can't come out to his mother! ugh
I'm not yet finished and will struggle through the final 4 hours..... I have rolled my eyes all the way into my brain but do love Robin Myles so I'm hanging in for her ! I'm sure all the dreams will come true in the end LOL

Historia
Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day. It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Alban refuses to knock the playhouse down, even keeping a picture of it on his wall.

The story had a lot going on , which is not a bad thing, just felt like I had to keep rewinding to try to catch up. A huge plot twist I sure didn’t see coming made it even more so. Good narration with different accents. It’s a pretty heavy read for me

Historia
Olivia McAfee knows what it feels like to start over. Her picture-perfect life—living in Boston, married to a brilliant cardiothoracic surgeon, raising their beautiful son, Asher—was upended when her husband revealed a darker side. She never imagined that she would end up back in her sleepy New Hampshire hometown, living in the house she grew up in and taking over her father’s beekeeping business. Lily Campanello is familiar with do-overs, too. When she and her mom relocate to Adams, New Hampshire, for her final year of high school, they both hope it will be a fresh start.
