Historia
Throughout history, rich and poor countries alike have been lending, borrowing, crashing - and recovering -their way through an extraordinary range of financial crises. Each time, the experts have chimed, "this time is different" - claiming that the old rules of valuation no longer apply and that the new situation bears little similarity to past disasters. This book proves that premise wrong.

Good Material; Bad Format - 3 1/2 Stars
Revisado: 05-19-10
This material is 5-star excellent with good narration, but you should buy the physical book as there are many references to charts and tables, so the format gets 2 stars. I listen to audiobooks during my daily commute, so I did not get to see the material referenced.

Historia
The current global financial crisis carries a "made in America" label. In this forthright and incisive book, Nobel Laureate Joseph E. Stiglitz explains how America exported bad economics, bad policies, and bad behavior to the rest of the world, only to cobble together a haphazard and ineffective response when the markets finally seized up.

Required Economic Reading
Revisado: 02-16-10
Narrator Dick Hill emotes Stiglitz' material perfectly. Stiglitz outlines the path the past three decades have led to this inevitable Great Recession commenced in 2008, pointing fingers at the culpable parties in both political parties. He also explains how to prevent it going forward by aligning business goals with social goals.

Historia
New York Times best seller and Whitebread Book of the Year, Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney's new translation of Beowulf comes to life in this gripping audio. Heaney's performance reminds us that Beowulf, written near the turn of another millennium, was intended to be heard not read.

3 Stars for the Audiobook, and 3 for the Reviewer
Revisado: 12-24-07
The problem begins with me. I didn't realise this was an abridged version, so I grant myself 3 stars, too. Beowulf is not such a long story that I would have considered abridging it. Seamus Heaney did a wonderful translation of the book, and he reads it so well. I was disappointed that the copy was cut. I hope an unabridged version will be available soon. I will snap it up. Until then, I will have to endure the agony of an incomplete work. <sigh>
