Historia
It’s the house of their dreams. Former marine Harry and his wife, Sasha, have packed up their life and their golden retriever, Dash, and fled the corporate rat race to live off the land in rural Idaho. Their breathtaking new home sits on more than forty acres of meadow, aspen trees, and pine forest in the Teton Valley. Even if their friends and family think it’s a strange choice for an up-and-coming pair of urban professionals, Harry and Sasha couldn’t be happier about the future they’re building, all by their lonesome.

Another case of arrogant wyte people ignoring indigenous wisdom
Revisado: 02-12-25
I really wanted to like this one, especially as a spouse of combat veteran. At first the characters were relatable and I was rooting for them, but the second they started in on the cliche “ignoring all the signs” stuff I couldn’t stand it. They don’t even learn or grow from it. As a native person it actually made me sick to my stomach how dismissive and downright disrespectful the main character was, not developing past that. The author is NOT native by the way.

Cute Omegaverse story with great narration
Revisado: 02-11-25
This is very mild as far as Omegaverse stories go. I loved the narration especially. I didn’t like how it takes place in modern America with very little changes to the world building. Her family is fundamental Christian? Was Jesus an Omega or an alpha? Jimmy Carter is mentioned? Eeehh could use some thought there. Probably won’t continue the series.

My whole life, no one has had my back. My parents are dead, my adoptive mother is a drug addict, and the mean girls on campus mock me for my scars. So when I end up desperate for money and out of options, I agree to sell the one thing I have left: my innocence. On the night I’m meant to give my body to a brutal Russian mobster, three men storm into the room like dark shadows and kill him before he can claim me. When they drag me from the blood-soaked bed, I’m certain they’re going to kill me too.

Fine Dark Romance
Revisado: 11-15-24
For what it is, it’s fine. The only thing that really annoys me is that the FMC is supposed to be a grown adult in college and all of her fellow college students act like they’re 16 in high school. It feels like the author wanted to write about high schoolers but needed them to be in their 20s to justify the spice.

I am told my union to the crowned prince will determine the fate of the kingdom, but it isn’t my betrothed who haunts my dreams. It’s the half-breed prince who stands at his side. He is darkness and sin, and when he whispers promises of wickedness in my ear, I crave a man who I can’t have. Every thought I have is treasonous. The way my hands ache to touch him deceitful. Even my dreams make me a traitor to the kingdom I am sworn to protect. But when the kingdom is attacked, I am forced to make choices I’m not prepared for.

Excellent narrators
Revisado: 04-30-24
The narration made this story worth it, but I didn’t love the jump into the spicy scenes, there wasn’t much build up there. Also the ending was the betrayal trope, which is not for me. But I enjoyed the general concept and hope the next one fleshes it out more.

When I was a little girl, I dreamed a handsome knight would come and rescue me from my wretched mother. He'd ride up on his white steed and break the curse I've been fated to carry since the day I was born. Funny how things changed over time, how the fairytale twisted into something far more crooked—and darker—than I ever imagined. In reality, my knight is scarred and broken, living alone in a castle of bones that overlooks the sea. He isn’t searching for me. He never was.

Cheap tropes, great performance
Revisado: 04-05-24
The writing really tried to be good, but it was a rollercoaster of quality throughout the book. Once I started rolling my eyes every paragraph I had to give up on it. I will say the narration is great!

Love it, but falls victim to romantasy tropes
Revisado: 11-21-23
I love this series, the story is interesting and the spice is top notch. HOWEVER. I really can’t stand the romantasy tropes that take over these types of books. The main characters are CONSTANTLY fighting and then making up. Like every chapter has at least one “almost break up” scene. The female MC is a stupid child, which I guess makes sense since she’s like 22 or whatever and has been sheltered most of her life. But it gets very annoying after the 50th time her insecurities cause her to do something stupid and then she’s bailed out by Hades. They fight, they have make up s*x, rinse and repeat 200 times. I’m hoping the third one breaks away from this a little.

The Manipulator. I can manipulate the emotions of anyone who lets me. I will make you hurt, make you cry, make you laugh and sigh. But my words don't affect him. Especially not when I plead for him to leave. He's always there, watching and waiting. And I can never look away. Not when I want him to come closer. The Shadow. I didn't mean to fall in love. But now that I have, I can't stay away. I'm mesmerized by her smile, by her eyes, and the way she moves. I'll keep watching and waiting. Until I can make her mine. And once she is, I'll never let her go.

I laughed out loud
Revisado: 08-14-23
What did I just listen to. This book cracked me up, its definitely bad, but at least it’s funny in audio book form. I think the narration was on point for what it is, so no hate to the voice actors here haha. Honestly I liked the FMC, she was sassy and at least believable. I can’t deal with the worlds greatest hacker slash assassins slash psychopath though. I didn’t finish this.

Heartbreaking with an amazing performance
Revisado: 05-04-23
I cried at the end! The performer is absolutely phenomenal. The story is a slow moving, emotional ghost story about lost souls (living and dead). Creepy but I wouldn’t say terrifying. Written and read just beautifully. It’ll take me a while to get over this one!

Superb narration, annoying protagonist
Revisado: 01-15-22
This is just my personal perspective. Off the bat I will say the story and writing are great. The narration is so good, especially Gemma Whelan, ,Albert one of the best I’ve heard. The only reason I would dock a star is the main character pissed me off haha. Not that we always have to love the main character of a book, she was still well written, she was flawed, and she admits is several times. But I HATE the whole “teen girls are innocent angels and teen boys are evil bad influences and there’s nothing in between” thing. And she constantly pulls it through the book. As a mom of boys it drive me nuts and distracted me from the story several times. But it was otherwise good so I still gave it 5 stars.

Another Preston and Child success
Revisado: 03-15-21
Love the spin-offs from the Pendergast series. A little dated, and I wish the two female characters didn't do the whole "cat-fight" competitive thing so typical by male authors, but otherwise loved the characters. Lots of research clearly went into it as most of their novels. of course Scott Brick's performance was amazing as usual!
