Historia
In his most provocative and practical book yet, one of the foremost thinkers of our time redefines what it means to understand the world, succeed in a profession, contribute to a fair and just society, detect nonsense, and influence others. Citing examples ranging from Hammurabi to Seneca, Antaeus the Giant to Donald Trump, Nassim Nicholas Taleb shows how the willingness to accept one's own risks is an essential attribute of heroes, saints, and flourishing people in all walks of life.

Since Darwin's day, we've been told that sexual monogamy comes naturally to our species. Mainstream science - as well as religious and cultural institutions - has maintained that men and women evolved in families in which a man's possessions and protection were exchanged for a woman's fertility and fidelity. But this narrative is collapsing....

Thought Provoking
Revisado: 10-17-19
A very thought provoking and paradigm shifting book. It leaves me thinking about very essential parts of myself and beliefs.
The book is well written with factual references and a storytelling style that makes you sit up and get as most information that you can from the title.
I enjoyed reading this book and I totally recommend it to anyone interested in human sex.

Historia
Shy bookstore owner Jane Finch grew up hiding in the margins of her own life while her vibrant, adventure-loving sister, Samantha, dominated every plotline. She's made peace with it, unlike Sam's business partner, Caleb, who's always nudging Jane to go after what she really wants. Why should she care what blunt, brash Caleb thinks? They've never had much in common, except for Sam. After tragedy strikes, they don't even have that.

Captivating
Revisado: 06-15-19
I liked the story. It starts off as the cliché love story where a girl has a crush on some guy and the guy is somehow out of her reach but, the twist that occurs with Jane's sister just gripped me and took me off.
It was more of what I expected. I kept hoping to predict the outcomes but they kept on evading me. Somehow.
It's a nice book with simple language. I recommend it to anyone.

Historia
In this groundbreaking book, journalist and innovation expert Warren Berger shows that one of the most powerful forces for igniting change in business and in our daily lives is a simple, underappreciated tool - one that has been available to us since childhood. Questioning - deeply, imaginatively, "beautifully" - can help us identify and solve problems, come up with game-changing ideas, and pursue fresh opportunities. So why are we often reluctant to ask "Why?"

Provocative
Revisado: 06-11-19
I liked this book a lot. Sometimes I need a nudge to get me to think and to look at things differently and this book had a lot of gems.
Many things that happen around me are indeed sources of this nudge and in as much as they might not be obvious, with a little more keenness and deliberate alertness, I realize that there's a lot of things in life to question and explore from a very simple point of view. While doing so then I'll get new experiences and get to reach we depths I can't imagine at the moment.
I enjoyed listening to this book and I would recommend it to anyone.

Blade never asked for a life of the rich and famous. In fact, he’d give anything not to be the son of Rutherford Morrison, a washed-up rock star and drug addict with delusions of a comeback. Or to no longer be part of a family known most for lost potential, failure, and tragedy, including the loss of his mother. The one true light is his girlfriend, Chapel, but her parents have forbidden their relationship, assuming Blade will become just like his father.

Nice storyline
Revisado: 05-21-19
I loved it. The ending was a bit devastating but I liked the shift from the Hollywood scene to remote Ghana. I commiserated with the unfortunate events that Blade had to go through. In the end, in as much as he felt like he was starting a new chapter, it could be seen in his songs and thoughts the pain of losing Sia and the hope of finding his real mother and his father doing his best to win him over. I liked Joy and the way she handled the relationship with Blade. All in all, it's a nice book.

Historia
An utterly unsentimental journey toward the end of life, Mala is an irreverent exploration of how we live, cope, and survive in the moment. Grounded in Lopez’s distinctive emotional language and sharp humor, this powerful one-woman show dances between doctors and urgent 911 calls, a mother’s growing frailty, and a daughter’s quest for grace - all set during an epic Boston winter. Rather than depict a “right way”, the play opens the door for our universal struggle to support those we love in dying, especially when all we’ve ever focused on is surviving.

Witty and intriguing story
Revisado: 04-27-19
I liked reading Nimona a lot. The story is really humorous and witty and had me very immersed. I liked the twist to normal villain stories by making the villain the ultimate hero despite having him do villainy stuff.
It's a book I recommend to anyone. A fantastic read.

I liked the story. It was told well and the connections were seamlessly made. It sounded like a typical love story however I liked the domain on which it took place. I would recommend this for anyone who's in need of a short romantic story.

In We Learn Nothing, satirical cartoonist Tim Kreider turns his funny, brutally honest eye to the dark truths of the human condition, asking big questions about human-sized problems: What if you survive a brush with death and it doesn't change you? Why do we fall in love with people we don't even like? How do you react when someone you've known for years unexpectedly changes genders?

Intriguing essays
Revisado: 12-24-18
I loved the essays by Tim. He told the stories so well that at the end of it you realize how immersed you were in the nitty gritty details that he gave and the simple language that he used made it easier to follow along.
The narration was well paced. I liked that I would listen to an entire chapter and if I don't finish, when I pick up again later it's flowing.
