Pleasantly Surprised

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I seen it on the Prime First Reads offerings and grabbed a different one, but this went on my wish list I grabbed it on KU and was able to listen for free.

I listened in one day, I really enjoyed getting lost in all the things. There was so much going on but the narrator did amazing with differentiating. Love, loss, angst, alcoholism, ptsd, amnesia. This book was very well done. It was a bit predictable but I did not see the end coming. Whew. Great job!

I got to listen to the audiobook and the narrator did good. He was the same who did book 1. While the characters are different he made it work.

Ethan and Piper! EEEP. I loved Ethan so much. He was in a bad place in book 1 and climbed his way out. I enjoyed it a lot!

I got to listen to the audiobook. While it took some time getting used to a male narrator it was pretty good! Keep in mind this is the authors debut novel and released almost 6 years ago. Everyone has to start somewhere!

Cali and Owen reconnect after 10 years apart. They were neighbors at their cabins. It's hot, steamy, and decently unpredictable. I enjoyed it!

Where to begin?

Narration - The narrator did an okay job, I liked how she did the different voices, including Tara's own, in her head. I did NOT like how it seemed that she was always yelling. I found myself adjusting the volume, a lot. I listened at 1.5x speed and it was good!

Story - I was hoping for something more original, but it was still enjoyable. This is very Twilightish. This was Werewolves instead of Vamps but same basic feel. Tara got annoying at times, but she is a teenager after all ;)

I am interested enough to see where this series goes!

This series is getting better. I love seeing Author growth. There is more originality. I can't wait to continue!

I love Astor, always have, his character is special.
Tara seems very week in this book, I am holding out hope.

I listened to the box set on audible, and was disappointed to find out that this was NOT the last book in the series. Not only that it ends in a "horrible" cliffhanger! Thank goodness I was able to grab book 5 on KU, but after listening to them all on audible I can't focus on actually reading it. I will get there though :D

I really enjoyed listening to this audio book! This is book 5 in the series, and can be read as a stand alone, but you will get so much more if you read them in order!

Ellen and her friends never have a dull moment. Uncovering secrets of the past is what these ladies seem to do best! The history aspect is great and keeps my interest.

I am happy that I was able to listen to the audio book version. I used a free credit to get it. That being said, for the price of this book I would have been a bit upset.

I enjoyed listening, but I am happy it was "free". I hate reviews that state such things, but here I am doing just that. The book didn't get GREAT until the last hand full of chapters. I have to admit if I had been reading it I probably would have DNF'd it. I am happy I stuck through though.

There seemed to be many fillers, unnecessary chapters. It all came together well at the end. I had predicted the ties almost from the start. It was good, just not as great as I had hoped.

What a conclusion! While this was a hard series to finish, I am so glad that I did. Such a beautiful ending for such a twisted bunch. Beautifully executed Miss Eve!

Twisted

Twisted, holy freaking twisted! So many mixed feelings. I know this could in theory happen, but it's twisted enough to be unbelievable, which made it okay to finish reading (listening). The most unbelievable is Maddie, but I won't say anymore on that. This is NOT okay, not at all.

It's like a train wreck, I HAD to finish, I could not look away. I am baffled. I do give this author major props for writing this though, it could not have been easy. It's a mind f*ck, that's for sure.

While this narrator was good, I miss the one who did book 1 & 2. It wouldn't have been as noticeable if I hadn't listened to the whole series back to back.

I don't even know. I was warned but holy crap. There are no words.

Just when I thought it couldn't get any more messed up, boom there it is. So freaking twisted.
