Historia
In Wyoming, a little girl reads people’s darkest secrets. In New York, a man sensing patterns in the stock market racks up $300 billion. In Chicago, a woman can go invisible. They’re called "brilliants," and since 1980, one percent of people have been born this way. Nick Cooper is among them; a federal agent, Cooper has gifts rendering him exceptional at hunting terrorists. His latest target may be the most dangerous man alive, a brilliant drenched in blood and intent on provoking civil war. But to catch him, Cooper will have to violate everything he believes in.

Snoozer
Revisado: 04-03-14
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I would change all the immature references to female body parts. It sounds like it was written by a frustrated sex-a-holic who never got the girls. The author womanizes in his writing to take his frustrations out on physically beautiful and confident women. It's a subliminal theme throughout his writing. And, I personally don't care for the narrator's "Keanu Reeves-like" voice. But, I've never liked KR or his voice in films. That type of voice sounds like someone who is trying too hard to sound "tough." Not working.
What was most disappointing about Marcus Sakey’s story?
Womanizing, "poor me" victim-like whining of the lead character who, naturally, would only have an EX-wife. I'm sure that this story does have an audience...maybe people who've been only labeled as "smart" all their lives. They'll connect with the idea of gifted people being victimized by all those big bad mean (popular) bullies.
Which scene was your favorite?
I've trailed away through most of it. I love mystery and suspense but the main topic's of no interest to me. I foolishly thought other listeners' reviews were on target. My "least" favorite sentence in the book is when the lead character is just sure of the physical description of a female receptionist on the other end of the phone. Wa?
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Nope...shallow, immature writing style
Any additional comments?
You get what you pay for, listeners...fair warning. On the other hand, all you "brilliants" who disagree with everything I've said above will dig the book. Go for it!

Historia
We're in a Beyoncé moment. The pop sensation has more fans, more fame, and more cultural influence than ever before. But what makes her so iconic? Is she really that perfect? And why do we love her so much? How to Be Beyoncé isn't a biography (mostly because nobody wants to get sued by someone who does everything so perfectly). Instead, it's a meditation on her place in culture, why we love her so much, and what we can learn from her image and work-ethic, so we can reach our own potential.

Yes. I love Beyonce. And, I love that a gay man wrote this story about why so many people love her.
What was one of the most memorable moments of How to Be Beyoncé?
The message about "how" to live your life...fearlessly.
What does Zane Sanchez bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Lady Almina and the Real Downton Abbey tells the story behind Highclere Castle, the real-life inspiration and setting for Julian Fellowes's Emmy Award-winning PBS series, and the life of one of its most famous inhabitants: Lady Almina, the fifth Countess of Carnarvon. Drawing on a rich store of materials from the archives of Highclere Castle, including diaries, letters, and photographs, the current Lady Carnarvon has written a transporting story of this fabled home on the brink of war.

High expectations
Revisado: 03-23-14
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Yes, make it more of a series of short stories like the Downton Abby series.
Would you be willing to try another book from The Countess of Carnarvon? Why or why not?
Probably if she wrote like Julian Fellowes. I hoped the feeling in the book would be like the one that I get from watching Downton Abby.
Have you listened to any of Wanda McCaddon’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No.
Did Lady Almina and the Real Downton Abbey inspire you to do anything?
No. I'm visiting Britain for the first time, so my upcoming trip inspired me to read this book. Plus, I'm a HUGE Downton Abby fan, like many other people.
Any additional comments?
I'm being a little hard on the author. I'm more of a mystery lover. So, my rating is based on a lack of intrigue in a book like this. It felt a little stuffy. I did enjoy the war history lessons though.

Love a Good Mystery
Revisado: 03-22-14
What did you love best about Still Life?
The fact that it was based on an artist's life with art interwoven into the story. I love art.
What did you like best about this story?
The fact that it was based on an artist's life with art interwoven into the story. I love art.
What does Ralph Cosham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Actually, I'm not mad about his voice. It will have to grow on me, though, because I plan to listen to the entire series. I liked best when he spoke in French, which wasn't often enough.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. I listen while I do activities.

Great Classic
Revisado: 02-16-14
If you could sum up The Grand Sophy in three words, what would they be?
Great Brit Story
What did you like best about this story?
Sophie's personality and how she shook up this British aristocratic family. She was a true renaissance woman.
Have you listened to any of Sarah Woodward’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No. I loved her voice and her ability to voice so many characters.
If you could take any character from The Grand Sophy out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Sophie, of course, because she works so hard to make everyone's life interesting and better, so she deserves a great night out on the town. Plus, she's the most multifaceted character in the book, so we could have a great random conversation.
Any additional comments?
Great book if you love British aristocracy and the British accent.
