main character
Revisado: 04-10-25
I tried to like the main character and to root for her but alas she was a train wreck, all over the place and unrelatable for me. The story itself was a good one.

Historia
Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this piercing work distills 3,000 years of the history of power into 48 well-explicated laws. This bold volume outlines the laws of power in their unvarnished essence, synthesizing the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, Carl von Clausewitz, and other infamous strategists. The 48 Laws of Power will fascinate any listener interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control.

con man's guide book
Revisado: 09-09-24
I have no idea how I came to have this in my library. I hope it was free. I am a fan of empowering oneself. I am not a fan of exercising power over others. This is the con man's user manual. And yet I saw many characteristics of human nature from the examples of power in the con man and the one conned. The historical examples were actually a little sickening. And also the disheartening examples of the human nature were telling.
I can't say I like the book but there's lots of evidence of reality in the book so it can warrant the listen. In fact some things in the behavior and reactions I've seen in people make more sense now.

Historia
Laurie is sure love at first sight doesn't exist anywhere but the movies. But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there's a moment of pure magic...and then her bus drives away. Certain they're fated to find each other again, Laurie spends a year scanning every bus stop and cafe in London for him. But she doesn't find him, not when it matters anyway. Instead they "reunite" at a Christmas party, when her best friend, Sarah, giddily introduces her new boyfriend: the man from the bus.

good except
Revisado: 09-03-23
I was listening right along and enjoying the story when the narrator changes and it's the cringe worthy fake accent of Amy McFadden. I have made efforts to not listen to any books that McFadden narrates but this one slipped by since there are 3 narrators. I can't stand head pronounced had and left pronounced laft. I lose spots of the story sometimes trying to decipher the words.

whatca treat
Revisado: 05-25-23
I like the multiple narrators but they sometimes miss the mark. One make everyone sound like 90 year old ladies. But some do great. The story is a treat for those of us that get tired of murder and maham. Upbeat, clean, wholsome, positive lives unfolding.
