Great Story! Unique Biography
Revisado: 08-01-23
I stumbled on this book. I was captivated by the story and adventures of the main character. This is a nonfiction book, but it reads like a well-told story. If you're an animal lover, you'll really enjoy this book. The elephants play a major role especially Bandula. Narration is good four stars.

Historia
When we think about the future of war, the military and Washington and most everyone gets it backwards. We think in terms of buying single military systems, such as fighter jets or aircraft carriers. And when we think about modernizing those systems, we think about buying better versions of the same things. But what really matters is not the single system but "the battle network"—the collection of sensors and shooters that enables a military to find an enemy system, target it, and attack it.

Informative Book on future needs of USA military
Revisado: 03-10-22
Author is well versed on DoD defense industrial complex and procurements. He argued for more and cheaper things to close the kill chain. These things need to be technologically advanced. Senator McCain relied on author for DoD renovations. The book seemed to become repetitive to me. Editing could have been better. I needed to listen at 1.35 speed to keep my attention.

comprehensive marriage guide
Revisado: 01-12-19
The approach to marriage relationship is well researched. Author has boiled his research into 7 principles. The idea of soft start-up will help me a great deal. The content of this book would have been much better for my premarital counseling. I took off 1 star because book has many lists. Audio version suffers as a result.

Historia
From 1914 to 1916, Ernest Shackleton and his men survived the wreck of their ship Endurance, crushed in the Antarctic ice, stranded 1,200 miles from civilization with no means of communication and no hope for rescue. When the ice began to break up, Shackleton set out to save them all on his heroic 800-mile-trip across the frigid South Atlantic, in little more than a rowboat.

Crisis requires Leadership more than Management
Revisado: 07-04-18
A good listen. Shackleton 's Way focuses on the reasons why Shackleton made decision. information from various diary entries where used and cross referenced. The personality of each crew member influenced assignments to lifeboats. The authors use more recent business case studies at the end of each chapter. Then the authors show how Shackleton's approach was used. These case studies seemed like a stretch of imagination at times. Four stars.

Historia
When viewed through an economic lens, poverty can be defined as an absence of resources. Since 1995, Framework's basic premise is that the middle-class understandings of those who work with children and adults in poverty are often ill-suited for connecting with and helping people build up resources and rise out of poverty. Now, 18 years and 1.5 million copies later, Framework: A Cognitive Approach has been revised, updated and expanded.

Physical book might have helped.
Revisado: 05-30-18
I am not a teacher. My goal for 2018 is to learn about homelessness. So I tried this book. Chapter 1 is very difficult to listen to. I didn't have the framework to listen. There are so many references to charts & lists that the audio book falls short. Just get the book. Author clearly has 1st hand experience on the issues. Book is probably very helpful to those actively working with those in poverty.

What Patients Say, What Doctors Hear

Historia
Despite modern medicine's infatuation with high-tech gadgetry, the single most powerful diagnostic tool is the doctor-patient conversation, which can uncover the lion's share of illnesses. However, what patients say and what doctors hear are often two vastly different things. Patients, anxious to convey their symptoms, feel an urgency to "make their case" to their doctors. Doctors, under pressure to be efficient, multitask while patients speak and often miss the key elements.

Long & prose-like. Author wrote it to teach herself the subject. Wish all doctors would read it. Current health care system makes the door / patient communication difficult. I have no reference for this book, so I gave it 3 stars. Good narration.

Historia
This new audio set is a very special abridgement of two of Stephen R. Covey's best-selling business books, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and The 8th Habit, read by Dr. Covey himself. We've condensed the content of two entire books into just six hours of audio, but you'll still enjoy Dr. Covey's lessons on powerful personal change and how to incorporate his ideas into your life to fulfill your ultimate potential.

Starts with 8th. Then the 7 habits
Revisado: 07-13-17
Some overlap between the two books. 8th habit seems to focus on the impact of computers and information age. I enjoyed the insights into how 7 habits were developed during the end of industrial age.
I listened while doing work around the house & while driving back from work. A more careful reading /listening may be needed due to the content. I may have missed some of Covey points. I choose this abridged version since it was about the right length for me.
I was a little annoyed that 8th habit came first. The online description did not make that clear.
