Historia
It is the late summer of 1814, and Hannah Bonner and her half brother Luke have spent more than a year searching the islands of the Caribbean for Luke's wife and the man who abducted her. But Jennet's rescue, so long in coming, is not the resolution they'd hoped for. In the spring she had given birth to Luke's son, and in the summer Jennet had found herself compelled to surrender the infant to a stranger in the hope of keeping him safe.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

Character development
Revisado: 07-19-24
Loved the music and voice of each character. The integration of the time periods was smooth and perfectly timed. I had never read the book nor seen the movie. So glad my first encounter was with this audiobook.
The cherry on the top were the happy endings. Especially for him at 93. Great experience.

Estes Park
Revisado: 03-08-24
Enjoyed the book and the narration.
But every time she said Estes I felt like nails on a chalkboard. Estes is pronounced 'Est-iss' not '-ees', not ' -ays'. I'm surprised it wasn't researched better, I really enjoy her narrations. Often searching for books she narrates.
Thanks

Constantly amazed at Lynn's talent
Revisado: 02-18-24
I was hesitant to begin this book as I had listened to other books about the horse librarians in Kentucky.
Lynn created fresh characters from a woman at 100 full of peace and wisdom, an annoying 'flat lander' who could never just agree. From aschewing the backward life she was stuck in, Alice learned she had strengths she never knew she had.
Great narration, plot twists, and learning to let God work His plan in His time. A happily ever after with electricity and indoor plumbing.

Historia
Posey Osterhagen can't complain. She owns a successful architectural salvaging company, she's surrounded by her lovable, if off-center, family, and she has a boyfriend-sort of. Still, something's missing. Something tall, brooding and criminally good-looking - something like Liam Murphy. When Posey was 16, the bad boy of Bellsford, New Hampshire, broke her heart. But now he's back, sending Posey's traitorous schoolgirl heart into overdrive once again.

Revisado: 11-30-23
Good character development. I had to listen to first few chapters several times to figure out who was who. Dog spends whole book on his back waiting to be petted. This is in most of her books. Give dogs more character. Let them be a more important factor in the story. Go see K9's who work.
Good job!

Variety, newness, and goodness
Revisado: 11-29-23
I have been binging Kristin's book for the last few weeks. Especially narrated by Xe. Though there are many similarities in her books (a dog, female bonding, and, of course, a man or two), Each book is unique and enjoyable. A rare treat. I love Xe's narration and her ability to adjust her voice to each character. I have many to go. Thanks for the company and happy endings.

When 17-year-old Rune Kristiansen returns from his native Norway to the sleepy town of Blossom Grove, Georgia, where he befriended Poppy Litchfield as a child, he has just one thing on his mind: Why had the girl who was one half of his soul, who promised to wait faithfully for his return, cut him off without a word of explanation?

Historia
Emerson, Georgia, and Marley have been best friends ever since they met at a weight-loss camp as teens. When Emerson tragically passes away, she leaves one final wish for her best friends: to conquer the fears they still carry as adults. For Marley, it's coming to terms with the survivor's guilt she's carried around since her twin sister's death, which has left her blind to the real chance for romance in her life. For Georgia, it's learning to stop trying to live up to her mother's and brother's ridiculous standards and learning to accept love.

More than once
Revisado: 10-06-23
To begin, I tried to find who was reading which part. It didn't matter, but until the end I didn't know and it kept bugging me. Small issue in a great book.
Then, as I listened, I kept having to go back to find out how or when something happened.
A major event happened in the very first of the book that I missed. Halfway through the book I gave up and started over. It flowed so much better. And I understood the challenges. Well done, challenging subjects. And I love happy endings. The characters deserved them.
