Historia
When Kerra left the quiet Cornish town of Penvennan Cove for the bright lights of London, she didn't look back. But after the death of her mother, she's decided it's time to face her past and return to the place she called home. Her father needs her, and perhaps she needs him more than she's willing to admit? Tackling town gossip, home renovations and a flame from her past, it's not quite smooth sailing for Kerra. Ross is the bad boy she was meant to forget, not a man who still sets her heart aflutter.

Strange cadence from narrator
Revisado: 01-07-25
I absolutely fell in love with the story and was so sad to see it end. I'd say it's probably my favorite Fiona Valpy book. I had a problem with the main narrator though, her cadence seemed off and there were some weird pauses. I had to speed up the narration to make it more bearable. She sounded robotic at some points.

Historia
When Sonya MacTavish inherits the huge Victorian mansion on the coast of Maine, she has no idea that the house is haunted. The footsteps she hears at night, the doors slamming, the music playing, are not figments of her imagination. In her dreams she sees glimpses of the past. In the present she finds portraits of brides. And when she has visions of an antique mirror, she is drawn to it, sensing it holds dark family secrets.

Too much fluff
Revisado: 12-08-24
I wanted to love this, but it seems to drone on and on with the mundane about needing a coke, or going outside, or Cleo and Sonya agreeing with each other about every single thing like having pizza, the dogs getting along, who brought the beer. There so much fluff and too much description about the surroundings and goings on. And the narrator's depiction of Owen's voice was just cringey. it was nails on a chalkboard for me. usually I love Nora's books, but this was a tough one to plod through.
