just clarifying that this is titled vampirates 4 and though the title card image shows the art for vampirates blood captain (book 3), this is vampirates black heart - book 4!
this one was a little bothersome with the will they won't they and people jumping to conclusions but it wraps up well. how grace and conner came about is rather upsetting; it isn't graphic, and it's digestible for kids, but heavy

narrator is quite slow but nice tone and annunciation, listened at 1.2x. loved this series as a kid so I'm having a reread via audible.
also wanted to leave a review that this is book 1 since the title and description don't help!

witchy adventure

I first listened to this book with my sisters while driving through the woods on our way to north carolina. The second time I listened to this was during a road trip to my parents house right after a hurricane and flash floods. Both experiences were magic but the second one even more so. On the second listen I was driving through gloomy but brilliantly green country on windy back roads to avoid traffic and flooded streets. Everything was eerily quite and had a feeling of anticipation as I listened to this wonderful book about the magic of childhood and the heartache of growing up and change. This novel really hits me with imagery, and reminded me of places I'd been as a child and how big the world used to seem. I'm not saying you need to listen to this while driving through the country during a storm but it does really enhance it - recommend listening to this during the fall because it builds a longing for that cooling down, sometimes windy, often quieting weather. Wonderful book, neil gaiman delivers again.

Fun music but plain story

This story has a nice premise but turns out predictable. The music is fun just couldn’t get into the book because it played out very average.
