For me, it was an incredibly slow start - a lagging middle - and an unattached ending. Maybe I was distracted and now paying attention or something, but I don’t get distracted with great books!
I get what the author was trying to do, but it just didn’t work for me….
But by all means… Make the decision for yourself…

Too much repeat

So disappointed in this book!! It is basically a repeat of book 4 in the series. Probably 85% repeated material. From a different character perspective? Not really. Pretty much the same as was told in book 4…. And if you have figured out the conclusion of this book, before you read it…. You haven’t been paying attention to the rest of the stories. This book is a complete waste of time and money if you’ve already read the rest of the series. It might be okay if it’s the only book you’ve read…

Not much story in any of the books

Way more sex than story! I don’t mind good sex scenes…. But when that’s is ALL there is in the book…. Very little story wove in…. And then to have a MM book added in at the end…. Just wasn’t for me I guess… on to a new series….

All the feels {again!}

I scowled. I smiled. I laughed. I cried! All the feels for sure. Andi Arndt is a favorite and Connie Crais did wonderful, but I suppose it’s easy with great material!

Audible Narration Ruined it!

As much as I hate to say it… I was completely turned off by the narration of these books! I feel like the stories were probably great stories — in fact, I DID enjoy the stories— but nails on a chalkboard would have been more relaxing to listen to. NONE of the three narrators were ok! I do listen at a 1.6 narration speed, but there was absolutely no way I was slowing this down to prolong the agony!
I was brought up that if I couldn’t say anything nice… not so say anything at all…. but I also feel like my momma would slap me if I didn’t pre-warn her that she’d need a whole lot of alcohol to get through this listen!
Sorry - not sorry!

Confusing when listening

I might have got much more out is the book if I had read it rather than listened to it. Seeing the names might have allowed me to keep them separated — hearing them, they were to similar and I was often confused. I just wanted to get to the end rather than truly enjoying the book as I have the rest of the series.

More sex than story

Some books have a lot of sex and not much story — this one fits in that category. The sex just seems to fill the word count rather than I have much to do with what little story there is.

I don’t know if it was the story or the narrator, but I just couldn’t stay interested…. I faded in and out and still felt like I didn’t miss a lot of the story as it drug on and on…

Title does not fit!

Definitely not my cup of tea — and I love history! This book should definitely not have this title as it has VERY little to do with the history of the Oregon Trail! Not sure how much of the Oregon trail was even in the book once he got to Fort Laramie!
