Historia
As the daughter of a drug dealer, Wavy knows not to trust people, not even her own parents. It's safer to keep her mouth shut and stay out of sight. Struggling to raise her little brother, Donal, eight-year-old Wavy is the only responsible adult around. Obsessed with the constellations, she finds peace in the starry night sky above the fields behind her house until one night her stargazing causes an accident. After witnessing his motorcycle wreck, she forms an unusual friendship with one of her father's thugs, Kellen, a tattooed ex-con with a heart of gold.

Not What I Expected
Revisado: 12-24-19
A friend had told me a while back that this was a wonderful book, but she wasn't sure if I would be able to read it because of the subject matter. When I was able to get the audio book, I went for it.
This story is hard to read/ hear. I don't think because of the underlying subject, the one that has everyone in a tizzy, but because of all the pain the two children in this book had to endure.
Beautifully written, I felt so much compassion for Wavy and Kellan, and I loved how the story ended.
Definitely a must read...or hear!

All she wanted was a quiet Christmas with her baby. She wasn't expecting to get stuck in a snowstorm in a strange town with a gorgeous stranger and his family...but sometimes getting lost takes us exactly where we're supposed to be.

Historia
I've spent most of my time in a cage. A beautiful steel structure that gives me a sense of safety. I've been let out, and I don't like this. I can't tell if this is a mind game or if I'm no longer of use. Nothing seems real anymore, and I've been left alone. I want to be put back into the world I know, but he's been gone for days, and I don't know when he'll come home, or if he'll come home, and it breaks my heart.

What an amazing journey!!
Revisado: 03-30-19
Yolanda Olson's stories are always gripping, but to hear them aloud is truly a wonderful thing. The words she puts to paper coming out of my speakers never ceases to entertain the dark parts of my soul, and the titalation of thinking that someone driving past me could get a snippet of the story is entertaining as well.
This story is definitely not for the meek, but if you want a dark story that will stay with you for a while, you need to hear about the girl and her Sir.

So unusual, but in the best way possible!
Revisado: 11-23-18
I'd never heard an audio book that actually had the male and female lines in each chapter read in a male or female voice!
To explain this a little better, in Kira's chapter, all male lines are read by the male narrator.
Unusual, and it caught me by surprise the first word I heard, but after a minute it became my favorite! I already loved this story, but hearing it out loud was so moving. Definitely one of my favorites!

Historia
What is going through the mind of a war criminal, tried by the International Military Tribunal at Nuremberg? Regret for his atrocious actions? Frantic desire to defend himself to the end? Desperate longing to be forgiven by his former enemies or craving of human kindness, even though he knows that he doesn’t deserve any… And the strongest of all, the fear to never again see the one, who he risked everything for, the only woman that he still continues to live for.

Amazing story and beautifully read!
Revisado: 10-22-18
I truly enjoy this story, and Ernst's version of everything that happened in his life leading him to where he was in The Girl From Berlin Series. And I have to say, the way it is read is truly amazing. The German accent is used in the best spots, and having the regular dialogue read with a general, American accent makes it easy to understand and follow. The narrator's voice is like butter, and hearing him, I can feel why Ernst was so persuasive! I can only hope Ellie Midwood also uses the same narrator and also puts The Austrian Part 2 on Audible. Perfection!

Historia
This story is dedicated to all the victims of sexual slavery in German concentration camps, who had to endure inhumane suffering under the Nazi regime. For many years after the atrocities had been committed, both sides - the abusers and the abused - still vehemently denied certain aspects of the Holocaust, and even the victims refused to admit the ugly truth about their incarceration, some out of fear, some out of shame, until several women decided to break an unofficial oath of silence, and brought their stories to life. This book is based on one of those stories. Emilia is a young Jewish woman, whose life slowly turns into a nightmare as she finds herself facing a dreadful choice: to secure her family's very existence by offering herself to one of the men who had put her behind the walls with barbed wire, or perish together with the least fortunate ones.

The emotions that this book will tear from you!!!
Revisado: 04-04-18
Where does Emilia rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is by far the most emotional audio book I have ever listened to. The main character, Emilia, goes through so many horrifying moments, and hearing it brought to life is heartbreaking!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Emilia?
Listening to Emilia talk about what life was like at the camp, and what she and her friend went through was so emotional!
Have you listened to any of Sofia Willingham’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I don't know that I've listened to her work before, but I fully plan to find more of her work.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This story made a tear come to my eye several times!
Any additional comments?
Ellie Midwood is an amazing author to begin with, and hearing this story out loud is an amazing experience!!
