Historia
By age thirty, Stephanie Foo was successful on paper: She had her dream job as an award-winning radio producer at This American Life and a loving boyfriend. But behind her office door, she was having panic attacks and sobbing at her desk every morning. After years of questioning what was wrong with herself, she was diagnosed with complex PTSD—a condition that occurs when trauma happens continuously, over the course of years.

This book helped me to better understand my own journey.
Revisado: 05-14-22
After years of living in an abusive relationship and growing up in a home where we didn’t feel in public, this book was a gift. It shed light on the cycles of trauma and helped me understand the grace necessary to forgive myself and let go of the fear and shame.
We have been told we will never get over our trauma but we will get through it. The book articulates hope and the process of healing.
Well written and wonderful presentation.

Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

Amazing story of life, love, and faith.
Revisado: 04-24-22
Such a well written, honest, engaging book.
I owe the neighbor who recommended it a book of equal caliber in return, that will be hard to find…. books like this are not that common anymore.
Such a moving, complex story about the journey of life and the struggles of faith. A beautiful view of family and how often we chose our families among our friends.
This is a story to be cherished and shared among friends md family.

Historia
In the perennial favorite Boundaries, Anne Katherine introduced the concept and importance of personal limits. In Where to Draw the Line, she takes the next step with a practical guide to establishing and maintaining healthy boundaries in a wide range of situations. With every encounter, we either demonstrate that we'll protect what we value, or that we'll give ourselves away. Healthy boundaries preserve our integrity. Unlike defenses, which isolate us from our true selves and from those we love, boundaries filter out harm.

Historia
In this must-listen book for anyone striving to succeed, pioneering psychologist Angela Duckworth shows parents, educators, students, and businesspeople - both seasoned and new - that the secret to outstanding achievement is not talent but a focused persistence called "grit". Why do some people succeed and others fail? Sharing new insights from her landmark research on grit, MacArthur "genius" Angela Duckworth explains why talent is hardly a guarantor of success.

Parenting 101
Revisado: 01-02-21
This book resonated with me on many levels, as a parent, a business person, someone who frequently fails, as a wife, and a former competitive swimmer. When I used to struggle in open water races, a friend would say "leave nothing on the table." Great read, and encouraging.
