I usually enjoy all of the Death Series books. I have to admit the older books are superb. I enjoyed this one mainly because it was an update on the characters and a new story. It reminded me of the Brotherhood. It was a different story, but there are several similarities from other books. I am not too bent about that because life does repeat itself and there is nothing new under the sun. But Some stuff can take a rest every now and then. I agree with one other reader, we can take a rest about Eve's story every now and then or briefly mention it. I love the interaction between the group. There has not been much of Trina in a few books. It was quite exciting to find out about Mavis, who would have thought that. It was truly a surprise. I see some people don't like all the cursing, well it is a police story, they have filthy mouths. I don't want Nora to change much to satisfy all these people it might change the flow of the story and the reason many of us like them so much. It was okay about a vendetta, whereas one person a woman who felt she was avenging all the women who were treated by men badly in some course of their lives, like beating, rape and just downright wrong. Of course this Lady Justice was quite mad. This was different from some of the men who mostly dominate the stories although this is not the first story where a woman was the villain.
This story had some flaws, but not at the expense of entertaining us and that is clearly why I read and listen to them. To some degree it is formality, well If some of the items we crave for are missing we would not love the series as much as we do so I think the dye-hard readers expect the basic formulas and Susan was right on once again. She does an excellent job with all those voices.

Not Bad
Revisado: 04-09-19
This book was okay. I have read better from this author. I enjoyed this book, but It dragged on. The book could have been condensed and more details could have been extended. I loved the ending, but it just ended telling us how he got his memory back but left so many other items undone. Maybe she will do other books giving us those details. I thought Ron did a good job in his narration. The book was sort of sappy, but I read for enjoyment so I like sappy sometimes. I just wish there was more character development. All in all this was a good book that could have been better. I will read the next book.

Pretty Good
Revisado: 02-08-19
Once again Susan does an excellent job. She was spot on. She is as much a part of this series as the ongoing characters. I enjoyed the book. I don't care how many things are repeated. As long as she hit all the marks that matter, it is a good book. It is all done in away it fit the moment.
It was good to see Crack in this one with a significant other. And it was good to see Strong in this one letting us know she is well and recovered from her injury. This book was a little softer. Eve bought her detectives prime donuts and pizza - something Roarke would do. Eve was a little different. I like Eve either way, mean or nice. There was not much of Mavis, and just a hint of Trina. This was a good installment. It showed the development of a few in the inner circle and kept my interest until the end. I liked this book more than the last one. I am awaiting the next one. After all these books, I am still interested in the series and want more.

Couldn't get into book, did not keep my attention
Revisado: 03-01-18
I buy Brenda Jackson books just because it is her books. I was so happy she had some new ones out. I loved the last series she had out which was not done by this narrator. I paused when I saw Pete Ohms was the narrator. He was better than the earlier books he did, but he still needs work. I couldn't get into the book. Not sure if he was Pete or the storyline. I could not finish the book. I will try again. Glad I didn't download the other book he narrated which was out the next day.

Historia
On a chilly February night, during a screening of Psycho in midtown, someone sunk an ice pick into the back of Chanel Rylan's neck, then disappeared quietly into the crowds of drunks and tourists in Times Square. To Chanel's best friend, who had just slipped out of the theater for a moment to take a call, it felt as unreal as the ancient black-and-white movie up on the screen. But Chanel's blood ran red, and her death was anything but fictional.

I love the in death series. I liked the book, because I love the series, I totally enjoyed the part where Galahad was upset with Eve because he smelled a dog on her. Of course you love the interaction between Roarke & Eve and the rest of the gang. There are some familiarities, like Sommerset is on winter vacation. The biggest thing that bothered me is the voices are off a bit. I had to go and look and make sure it was Susan Ericksen. At times the voices are off to me. She still did a good job, but it was off a bit. all in all, the book hit all the marks for me but it was not a 5 star in my opinion. Will I keep reading/listening, of Course. the book was still enjoyable, it's not one of her best. I can't wait for the next one in September.

Still good but missing something
Revisado: 09-18-17
Not sure what the story is missing but it lacks the luster of most of the in death series. I enjoyed the book, But: I loved the interaction between Eve and Roarke, it was good, could have been more. most of the characters were present, but had small parts. I really don't care if Eve and Dr. Dewinter like each other or if she is in anymore books.
I think Larinda Mars the DB, was introduced in Glory, she worked for channel 75. Eve does not like Ms. Mars, but she investigates her murder to the fullest. The storyline with her (Dr. Dewinter) and Eve at the beginning was interesting, but not sure it worked. I am with Eve, don't want her with Dr.Morris either. I don't think the killer was as obvious as some think but I felt it sort of dragged a bit without anything for you to hold on to. Eve checked out that all the suspects were being black mailed by Lorinda, Also, Not sure I was crazy about all the stuff everyone was being black mailed about. It sort of hit too close to Eve's background as well. Usually, if the book hit certain things it's a winner for me. All in all, it was still a worthy piece. we fans just expect more. It fed my addiction to the series, and I am waiting on the next installment in Feb. Susan did a great job. I don't want anyone else reading this series.. She has all the characters down. This works No need changing it.

As always another good one
Revisado: 02-08-17
I love the in death series. I enjoyed the book. I wish she would do more than just 2 a year. I read/listen to lot of books but this is the only series I look forward to twice a year.
Most of the crew is present, but not everyone. I guess I am a creature of habit I want everyone present and accounted for. If you are an in death fan you will enjoy this one as well. There are a lot of similar things, but stuff we count on for a in death book like the action between Eve and Roarke. It is evolving and I adore it.
Susan does a good job as usual, but in the beginning, I thought she was off just bit. Not enough to take away from the story because she is just that good, but I felt the voices were a bit off in the first few chapters.

Not Bad
Revisado: 11-04-16
this seemed like an older book of Ms. Howard. I usually like her books. I liked this one, but it could have been much better if they had another reader. This reader was pretty bad, not enough emotion and not much difference in the voices. The story was a typical romance. Where a woman was married things didn't go well. Man walks out hoping this would incite the wife. Instead of her running behind him she learns to live without him.
They get back together and of course something happens to hamper their reunion. It ends up with a Happy ever after ending.
if you can ignore the narrator, you can enjoy the book.

What A Book
Revisado: 04-08-16
I got the book based on prior reviews. When I first started listening, I was bored, could not get into the story and was half way listening. Somewhere along 45 minutes to an hour I was hooked. Missed my turn because I was so into the story.. It was sort of a cute story. It was a lot of sex with a real story behind it. And the two lawyers were smart and at the top of their game. Only the game got them. They were just playing with each other and just having sex, so they thought. they ended up being perfect for each other. It was a touching story in some places. The book focused on a malpractice case. It was a feel good story. It also a light read. If you are looking for a hot book, with a little drama, and not too much serious. You should enjoy this one. I did to my surprise.

Not bad for an older Linda Howard book
Revisado: 04-06-16
I love Linda Howard books. This book was a sweet simple romance book. A little drama, but not much. A little sex too. Sometimes you need a simple book to get you through. I enjoyed the book. I was not sure I would like it but the story draws you in and you are left wanting to know how it ends up. Not realistic. Well, I don't think in today's society a person would answer a newspaper ad for a wife and you fly to meet this person and then marry them.
All in all it was fairly good. The character development was pretty good and story held my attention. Reese was a mean, bitter person and his mail order bride change him and he is able to forgive and live again. The only thing that really bothered me was the total end. An epilog would have been great.
If you are looking for a quick easy read this one is for you.
