When I started this book I was surprised to hear a stage talk. This is not a typical audible book. Though the content is great, if you are looking to have a book read to you, this is not the one for you.

What do Netflix, our desire for the corner office, and that perfect picture we just posted on Instagram have to do with each other? None of these things is wrong in itself. But when we begin to allow entertainment, success, or social media to control us, we miss out on the joy of God's rule in our hearts. In Gods at War, Pastor Kyle Idleman, best-selling author of Not a Fan, helps every believer recognize there are false gods at war within each of us, and they battle for the place of glory and control in our lives.

Historia
Black Americans have long been shackled to the Democrats. Seeing no viable alternative, they have watched liberal politicians take the Black vote for granted without pledging anything in return. In Blackout, Owens argues that this automatic allegiance is both illogical and unearned. She contends that the Democrat Party has a long history of racism and exposes the ideals that hinder the Black community’s ability to rise above poverty, live independent and successful lives, and be an active part of the American dream.

I’m so glad Candace narrated this book;
brilliant talent!
Though Candace’s writing is of supreme intellect with refreshingly rich vocabulary unlike any other books I’ve read, this book is equally incredibly easy to read/listen to. I purchased a hard copy of the book as well so I can underline all of the poignant statements; and there are many!
I highly recommend this book

Historia
In this “vital, necessary, and beautiful book” (Michael Eric Dyson), antiracist educator Robin DiAngelo deftly illuminates the phenomenon of white fragility and “allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to 'bad people'" (Claudia Rankine). Referring to the defensive moves white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent meaningful cross-racial dialogue.

Robotic audio
Revisado: 12-08-20
This book introduces and attempts to define an intensely sensitive topic. I found the reader of the audio version did not do this topic justice with her robotic and monotone voice. It felt as though my mind was being conditioned and I found it hard to stick with it. I also noticed a lot of repetitive statements throughout this book.
I did not at all enjoy this book though I will say there was some valuable information.
