Historia
When Athena Greydon’s fiancé ends their engagement, she has no choice but to move into the Spite House she recklessly bought him as a wedding gift. Which is a problem, for several reasons: The house, originally built as a brick middle finger to the neighbors, is only ten feet wide. Her ex’s home is literally attached to hers. And Dr. Matthew Vine the Freaking Third—AKA the uptight, judgy jerk who convinced his younger brother to leave her—is living on her other side, only a four-foot alley away.

I felt so seen
Revisado: 05-09-25
I really enjoyed this book for the humor, romance, and humanity. The FMC's struggle with depression was so well described and I felt seen and represented by the heroine. I felt the relationship between the two brothers happens more often than people think, too. I really enjoyed the book and look forward to the next one in the series.

Historia
Liv’s happy with life in her thirties. She has two cats, one BFF, and no boyfriend, which is just how she likes it. Plus, she loves working at a not-for-profit software company where she can be her authentically autistic self. This is her happy ever after. But when her beloved firm merges with a repulsive rival, Liv finds herself competing with her sort-of-ex for the top job. Sure, Finn had been Liv’s best friend, with his nerdy good looks and their shared love of Tolkien, but there was that one night, their song, and … well, she doesn’t like to talk about it.

I really enjoyed this book because I could really see myself in Liv. I loved how Finn is a super Tolkien nerd too. What a heartwarming and special story!

Historia
Even though Agatha Raisin loathes amateur dramatics, her friend Mrs. Bloxby, the vicar's wife, has persuaded her to support the local pantomime. Stifling a yawn at the production of Babes in the Woods, Agatha watches as the baker, playing an ogre, struts and threatens on the stage. Then a trapdoor opens… followed by a scream and then silence. Surely, this isn't the way the scene was rehearsed?

Penelope Keith is definitely the best narrator.
Revisado: 11-11-24
Alison Larkin is okay, but she doesn't do the character voices differently. Penelope Keith is still my favorite. I liked the story overall, which is what kept me listening.

Love The Series
Revisado: 01-08-24
This is one of my favorite series to listen to due to the mystical and mysterious nature of the stories. I like that each book develops the characters in different ways. Gigi extensively researches her material and adds a bit of magic, which makes the stories enchanting. I really like Dorian and they way she describes his movements. You forget he's a gargoyle sometimes. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!

Historia
Eric is the Discworld's only demonology hacker. Pity he's not very good at it. All he wants is his three wishes granted. Nothing fancy—to be immortal, rule the world, have the most beautiful woman in the world fall madly in love with him, the usual stuff. But instead of a tractable demon, he calls up Rincewind, probably the most incompetent wizard in the universe, and the extremely intractable and hostile form of travel accessory known as the Luggage.

This book made me laugh out loud. I really enjoy it when Rincewind and the luggage are part of the story. The voices are very well done and really bring the characters alive.

Really sad
Revisado: 10-01-22
I love the Hamish Macbeth stories and have listened to every one. most of the have an epilogue, but this one ended on a particularly cruel note of Hamish with no gentle easing back to life. M.C. Beaton created a set of lovely characters that were multi dimensional. Now we have characters that are written just for the sake of it with not the same dimension. I did enjoy the story for the most part but the ending was jarring.

Uninteresting
Revisado: 03-29-22
I found it difficult to keep track with this book. I didn't really see the point of the Russian spy part of the plot. Skipping that would have made it a little better. Also the narrator could have been more animated. It was like he was reading stereo instructions.

Narration needs work
Revisado: 02-23-22
The narrator definitely didn't research the proper pronunciation of Navajo words and important landmarks of the southwest. I didn't enjoy the story as much because the narrator wasn't in awe of the beauty of the southwest as previous narrators. I'm glad the next book is narrated by someone else. Hopefully they learn how to pronounce important Navajo words.
