Historia
After discovering the rightful heir to the Phaetyn, an alliance with the healers should be easy as pancakes. But while the armies of Verald and Gemond march to the border for war, the emperor delivers a crushing blow that threatens to put everything at risk. As I fight my father’s staggering power, I’m compelled to face evil on his terms. A twisted darkness worse than anything I’ve experienced. Nothing could’ve prepared me for this. How far would you go to defeat a merciless sovereign?

Too much....
Revisado: 09-01-19
I really really enjoyed the first two books in this series. But this third book was just too much for me!! The narrator makes it sound like everything Ryn says is with overwhelming emotion.. it was annoying. Also Ryn “snorts” and “snickers” far too much. It’s like what started off as some badass characters turned into ridiculously mushy and annoying characters in this third book.

Historia
Everything I know is a lie. I'm an ordinary mortal girl. Lord Irrik is a depraved dragon shifter. King Irdelron is an immortal tyrant. In the disease ridden land of Verald, life is mapped out much like the established rings of our kingdom. Everyone has a role. Me? I'll be uselessly serving potato stew for the rest of my life because I can't make anything grow. But starvation brews rebellion. When the king strikes, I'm captured by Lord Irrik. Instantly, I'm embroiled in a deadly game. One where I'm desperate to understand the rules.

Quite Enjoyable
Revisado: 05-23-19
I actually really enjoyed this book. It was unique and different from a lot of the others I’ve read. I love how dark it is, and I love a good hate to love trope.
I agree with other readers that everything about this book was Super Super predictable, but I still enjoyed it. It kinda makes you wonder how dumb can the main character be though, that she’s not putting this stuff together faster.. that’s one of the downsides when books are so predictable, but the main character is so in the dark. It becomes hard to relate to them and you find yourself rolling your eyes A Lot.
I did not find the narrator that bad. I actually thought she was pretty decent compared to a lot of others I’ve heard. I expected a lot worse based on what other commenters said. I’ve heard some pretty horrible narrators though,.... so maybe my expectations are lower now?
Overall I found I just generally enjoyed this and can’t wait to get through the others!!

Historia
When everything is on the line, how far will you go to protect those you love? What if the cost of saving them is your soul? Would you pay it? I thought I was prepared for what was coming; that if I made sacrifices, I could win this game. I’m no longer afraid of the darkness or the monsters that hide in the shadows. I’ve become what I feared most, allowing it in to protect those I loved. Sometimes it takes a monster to win. Sometimes to fight monsters, you have to become one. My only fear is....can I come back from it?

Total Cluster f**k, but one I rather enjoyed.
Revisado: 03-06-19
It took me to till the end of this book to decide how I felt about this series so far (have not read book 3 yet).
The quick and dirty is, the series in general is a bit of a cluster f**k and can be hard to follow and understand at times. And there’s little details that trail off and are never addressed which can be annoying. Also at zero point does it talk about what’s going on with Lucian in this entire book while he’s still searching for Katarina and trying to find the seal?? Like how has he not figured out anything yet and what’s he doing in the meantime as things begin to unfold from Lena’s perspective?? That along with the flash back of Katarina telling him how the curse will be different next round makes zero sense regarding how he’s not figured anything out yet and how he just watches it all uncovered at the end. Like hello?? Where have you been Lucian!!?? This could have been cleared up with a little more detail from his perspective so you could understand what’s causing him trouble with finding the true katarina.
However, at the same time, the concept is interesting and different from most other stories I’ve read. I enjoy the characters for the most part. It’s hot, it’s sexy, it’s down right dirty. And it ultimately gave me all the feels. The ending to this book just crushed me!! In a good way I think?? I don’t know, I’m still on an emotional roller coaster from it! So overall I’ve found it entertaining enough to continue reading, and will continue into book 3 to see how it all ends.
Just wish everything was a little more concise.
Narrator wise... Eva is pretty decent when it comes to doing one character.. Lena. But it gets really confusing trying to follow conversations bc she can’t do more then one voice. So half the time I’m not sure who is saying what. Which probably leads to the book being hard to follow sometimes. Otherwise she’s ok. Aidens pretty decent.

Too much sappy blah for me.
Was ok at beginning but had trouble finishing. Some of these are just to over the top on completely unrealistic love stuff, which I can’t handle. And, which gets real boring real fast. This was one of those for me.

You'd think that basically being in charge of love would be an epic job, right? Wrong. Sure, I can blow some Lust into people's faces and watch the show, but I can't actually participate. It gets old, trust me. Same goes for love. I can pass it out like sugar-free lollipops at a dentist's office, but I can't get any love for myself. It totally sucks. I used to consider myself a hopeless romantic, so why wouldn't I choose to become a cupid? Sounds like a good idea, right? Wrong again. They don't call us stupid cupids for nothing.

Amusing
Revisado: 02-17-19
At first I couldn’t stand the narrator, it originally sounded like she had a lisp which I find really hard to not be bothered by when listening to an audio book. But I felt this either lightened up as the book went on or I may have just got used to it. She also did a decent job with the male voices, which some female narrators completely botch. So overall I was satisfied with the performance.
As for the story, this main character reminded me So So much of the main chick from Curse Of the Gods series. Everything about her seemed the same (also reverse harem style). She was ok, tho mildly annoying at times, I still found it light and comedic which I enjoy. I also feel like this characters circumstances give her more of a reason to be the way she is even when annoying (unlike in curse of the gods). Also this was an extremely slow burn. Don’t get any goods in this book, fingers crossed we get to the good stuff in the next one.
Overall I found it enjoyable and amusing. Will read next in series!

At least her outer village is far removed from the cities of the sols, and she won't ever be forced to present herself to them... Better then expected
Revisado: 11-04-18
This book started off slow for me, it took at least a couple hours to get into and at first I wasn’t really enjoying it. But as it goes on and personalities start to develop and the humorous banter comes out, I really started to enjoy it. It was a happy surprise. I found this one quite funny and caught myself laughing out loud for several parts. I only wish W wasn’t quite so clumsy, I find it slightly excessive. Like, just no one is that ridiculously clumsy, so it took a little away from the reality of the character for me. But I’ve read that this lightens up in the future books (fingers crossed).
Definitely excited to read the next ones now!

Meh, alright
Revisado: 11-02-18
First off I Love Kresley Cole as an author. But this story was just ok for me. I think it was just a tad far-fetched. At the end when they are opening up to each other, and N is starting to question her actions and feel regretful etc. I couldn’t stop rolling my eyes. It was just too much, to mushy and thoughtful
I suppose? I dunno I just didn’t love it overall.
N also seems to have zero backbone and certain parts I was just like ??? Seriously your going to put up with that shit (airport scene)? All the excuses in the world aren’t enough and she just keeps justifying everything and being weak. I think I really liked it starting off, but as it develops the characters seem to become weak and mushy and I just stopped liking them as much. There comes a point in the story where things just become too unrealistic for me, especially for a book that’s not meant to be fantasy.
Also the narrators male voice, sometimes it’s ok, other times it’s just weird and not well done. It’s like oh he’s trying to talk dirty to her during sex, but it sounds like he’s taking a dump. Didn’t love it, but maybe I’m just used to Robert Petkoff who does a pretty good job in Kresley’s Immortals after dark series.
I LOVE the immortals after dark series. I’ll still probably try to listen to the rest of this series, but I’d recommend IAD over this one!

Love
Revisado: 10-20-18
This was one of my favs in the series and it was so unexpected for me. I didn’t initially recognize the characters mentioned in the description and wasn’t sure I’d be as interested, but boy was I mistaken. I loved hearing more about the world of the “bad” guys and the kingdom of blood and mist. Damn Cole does a good job at keeping the stories interesting and varied enough to keep the reader hooked. I’m amazed at how much I’m still enjoying this series at book 13 and how the stories still remain fresh but are all tied together.
