Historia
When Edmund Hillary first conquered Mt. Everest, Sherpa Tenzing Norgay was at his side. Indeed, for as long as Westerners have been climbing the Himalaya, Sherpas have been the unsung heroes in the background. In August 2008, when eleven climbers lost their lives on K2, the world’s most dangerous peak, two Sherpas survived. They had emerged from poverty and political turmoil to become two of the most skillful mountaineers on earth. Based on unprecedented access and interviews, Buried in the Sky reveals their astonishing story for the first time.

Great Narrator but boring story
Revisado: 09-12-21
It was really the narrator's voice that kept me hanging on to the end of this book, as much a struggle as it was. He has a great voice to listen to but as much as I was interested to hear the story, It was more like listening to someone read an encyclopedia. Way too much history on things that were irrelevant. Unless you want to know the details about the history of various parts of the country and culture, like a history buff, you might pass on this. The book covers way too much ground. Half the time I didn't know if i was in the present or the past of the story.

Too twisted for me.
Revisado: 12-27-20
I love DK but some of this was too twisted perverted and dark for me. The reader voice was ok but still wish there would be a cast with so many characters.

A hot heroine. Doesn't get any better than this.
Revisado: 10-18-20
A kick ass hot woman as a hero, doesn't get any better than that. Koontz is brilliant with the way he draws in readers by taking current cultural contexts to weave believable, yet unbelievable, scenarios. I can't wait to start book 4.

Historia
She used to work for the US government, but very few people ever knew that. An expert in her field, she was one of the darkest secrets of an agency so clandestine it doesn't even have a name. And when they decided she was a liability, they came for her without warning. Now she rarely stays in the same place or uses the same name for long. They've killed the only other person she trusted, but something she knows still poses a threat. They want her dead, and soon.

Started slow but got very exciting
Revisado: 10-03-20
I was just about to stop listening within the first 10 minutes but then enough started to happen that sucked me right in. Very exciting story and fun to have such a strong powerful woman as the hero. She had great contrasting characters to add to the dynamic and the two that actually got together was a surprise. Very funny dialogue between the alpha male and alpha female during times of serious stress and conflict.
The only thing I didn't care for was that the same narrator did all of the voices, even the men. This would have been even better with a full cast. I will definitely try another of her books.

Historia
This wasn’t the plan. Judge Herman Calvert, 88, never thought he’d outlive his beloved wife, Marie. Yet now he finds himself alone, a grieving widower, desperate for escape from the home they built together, where every turn brings a painful reminder of his late wife. So the judge retreats to his lake cabin in rural Wisconsin, a place where an old man can find peace and solitude. A place where nature can take its course. But something new has moved in.

stupid plot and somewhat predictable.
Revisado: 07-12-20
I don't know any women, let alone several in this story, this naive to fall for such a perfectly executed trap by a disgruntled man. The elaborate mousetraps that he sets to get each of them to his cabin are rediculous. The way the women feel powerless during the entire entrapment then their big escape, completely independent of each other, was unreal.

Koontz fan but this didn’t do it for me.
Revisado: 04-21-18
I would’ve preferred a full cast or at least men saying the men’s dialogue. The narrator played all voices and she used the same tone for all men. Story was ok but hard for me to pay attention and stay motivated to finish it.

Communication is a fact of life. You are forced to communicate with other people every day whether you want to or not. You communicate with your words. You communicate with your voice. You communicate with your posture. You communicate with your attitude. Being able to effectively express your thoughts and feelings is essential to successful business and personal relationships. Not being able to communicate effectively in any situation can cause miscommunications between you and another person which can give way to arguments.

These are the words that ring in the mind of mild-mannered, beloved schoolteacher Cora Gundersun - just before she takes her own life, and many others', in a shocking act of carnage. suspenseful but same Koontz theme
Revisado: 01-01-18
What did you love best about The Whispering Room?
Koontz style delivered. I am a Koontz fan but he definitely follows a specific recipe for his stories. Always an exceptionally attractive hero who defies all odds who meets up with others on a similar quest to foil the evil that's unfolding.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jane of course. Gorgeous and tough woman.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Her voice was very easy to listen to and nice. Her male character voices were not great but not bad. She made the story very suspenseful.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not really
Any additional comments?
Typical but good story. Koontz can weave a bizarre story.
