Good, not so obvious stuff.
Revisado: 12-06-18
It provides some useful networking concepts. I also would recommend this book for anyone starting out, as the concept of not burning bridges is very helpful later on and people usually realize it on their own only after hitting a certain degree of maturity.

I'm grateful for people like Danielle Krysa who are willing to remind us that we don't need to be perfect, we just need to be personally fulfilled and embrace the things that make us creatively happy, regardless of the opinion of outer and, more importantly, inner big jerks.

ABC News anchor Dan Harris used to think that meditation was for people who collect crystals, play Ultimate Frisbee, and use the word namaste without irony. After he had a panic attack on live television, he went on a strange and circuitous journey that ultimately led him to embrace a practice he'd long considered ridiculous. Harris discovered that meditation made him more focused and less yanked around by his emotions. According to his wife, it also made him significantly less annoying.

Historia
Big Girl Panties by Stephanie Evanovich is a rollicking and poignant romantic comedy about a young widow who decides to get in shape...and winds up getting her groove back - and a whole lot more! Holly Brennan used food to comfort herself through her husband's illness and death. Now she's alone at age 32. And she weighs more than she ever has. When fate throws her in the path of Logan Montgomery, personal trainer to pro athletes, and he offers to train her, Holly concludes it must be a sign. Much as she dreads the thought of working out, Holly knows she needs to put on her big girl panties and see if she can sweat out some of her grief.

You don't give the person you love a shiner!
Revisado: 01-10-18
I was expecting a strong heroine. Instead I find a woman who gives her man a shiner, hitting him in public, after planning to do so for a week for no real reason. No straying, no lying, nothing. I understand the writer needed a conflict, but really? Not only the storyline turns ridiculous with her bullying but also the writing is flat.

When your life is a hot mess at 20, it's cute. At 27...well, not so much. It's just that my lofty dreams - making it as a real estate agent, paying rent on time, showering daily - have stayed just that: dreams. Oh, and love? I've decided love might be a little ambitious for me at the moment. Instead, I've settled for the two guys who will never leave me: Ben & Jerry. That is, until Dr. Adam Foxe takes up residence as the town's new vet.

Funny but with creepy moments
Revisado: 12-14-17
The book is funny and well written. I enjoyed listening to most of it, but the main male character was disturbing: using his physical advantage to restrain a woman that is trying to leave, forcibly kissing people, sending mixed signals big time...
Wacked personalities are all around IRL, I don't need them crawling in my lighthearted leisure books posing as ideal men.

Charm is the key to the world. Charisma, magnetism, sex appeal - that "it" factor that can't be described. Nolan Delaney has it is spades. The infamous Mr. Romantic. And maybe he is out of my league, but I'm going to give it the old college try anyway. Because I didn't travel 2,000 miles for a job interview at his request just to be put out like trash. Don't underestimate me, Mr. Delaney. I'm really not as innocent as I look.

Let's ignore all the red flags.
Revisado: 08-03-17
Virginal 22 years old decides to go to a sketchy AF job interview. There, she decides it is a great idea to pop her cherry with an extremely pushy probable gang rapist, cause you know... Women have no brains if the guy has abs right? And if he can throw a pile of cash on those abs then even a Brown Valedictorian will ignore all the red flags, right?
Then it turns out the pushy a**hole has a seriously sadistic streak and that's where I stopped listening because if I wanted to hear about women being mistreated I would download the audio version of Eastern Promises.
I LOVE rough sex. I don't mind people being chocked/spanked/beaten during intercourse nor submission as long as I don't get rapy vibes every single time. Even though there is explicit sexual content in the first half of the book, I didn't get horny once. I literally had a frown in my forehead and an unsettled stomach reading most of it.
A BIG NO FOR MISTER PUSHY A**HOLE

Historia
It all started when my brother, Paul, convinced me to go on one last family road trip across the Mother Road with him and my dad. Just like old times, right? Wrong. What Paul fails to mention is his best man, Porter, will be joining us, who just so happens to be my childhood crush and the man who broke my heart four years ago. What is supposed to be a fun family bonding experience across Route 66 turns into a war of pranks, awkward moments and bathrooms full of dirty flannel shirts and day-old beard clippings.

scatological humour taken way too far
Revisado: 06-12-17
This novel is well enough written for me not to return it but:
-The humor is too forced. On every chapter there is a weird situation that involves everyone being extremely inappropriate (e.g.: a father telling his kids about their deceased mom's sex life, an old lady talking about orgies she used to have to complete strangers, someone drinking pee or sniffing someone else's but without a real reason behind it,...). I like crude humor, but not when it is so artificial.
-The hero (the main character's love interest) is plainly dislikable. He is portrayed as a handsome and rugged yet sensible man, but he doesn't act according to that description. He treats his 'best friend' as if said best friend was dumb, and every single moment of angst in the novel is caused by his insecurities or lack of communication with the main character. The heroin would be better off just finding a new boyfriend...

Lucy Hutton has always been certain that the nice girl can get the corner office. She's charming and accommodating and prides herself on being loved by everyone at Bexley & Gamin. Everyone except for coldly efficient, impeccably attired, physically intimidating Joshua Templeman. And the feeling is mutual. Trapped in a shared office together 40 (ok, 50 or 60) hours a week, they've become entrenched in an addictive, ridiculous never-ending game of one-upmanship.

Lovely
Revisado: 05-31-17
I was skeptical at the beginning of the book as I'm tired of novels that idealize bullies/codependent alpha jerks. I'm glad I decided to give it a try. There is nothing unkind about the hero, and after the first few pages, the heroine is funny and relatable in every single chapter. The dialogs are engaging and intelligent. Five solid stars.

Boring
Revisado: 05-07-17
The narrators are wonderful, but the book itself is not very good: slow paced and without a clear storyline. I didn't like the pushy 'hero' until the very end. I wanted to put this book down for good in more than one occasion, which is rare for me.

Historia
Food. There's plenty of it around, and we all love to eat it. So why should anyone need to defend it? Because in the so-called Western diet, food has been replaced by nutrients, and common sense by confusion—most of what we’re consuming today is longer the product of nature but of food science. The result is what Michael Pollan calls the American Paradox: The more we worry about nutrition, the less healthy we see to become.

Two and a half stars
Revisado: 02-28-17
The information this book provides is fine, but it would easily fit in a much shorter title. It gets repetitive and very boring at times. I'm a big fan of essays, so I know it's not just the genre. The narrator's voice is clear, but gives me the impression of being constantly chastising its audience.
