For the most part, sound advice
Revisado: 08-16-24
As other reviewers have stated, this is less cloud-identification and more how to put natural observations into practice, which I liked. The only thing I was surprised at was the author’s irresponsible take on wildlife ownership/rehab. You would think that a guy that up until recently refused to set a bird feeder out would understand the huge issue behind untrained individuals trying to domesticate wildlife or rehab creatures without training. Lots of small animals every spring die because people with very little knowledge try to save them or keep them for a pet without actually knowing how to take care of them. The animal can die or if it is surrendered, sometimes cannot be released in the wild.

Historia
In this masterpiece of nature writing, beautifully narrated by Oscar-winning actress Tilda Swinton, Nan Shepherd describes her journeys into the Cairngorm mountains of Scotland. There she encounters a world that can be breathtakingly beautiful at times and shockingly harsh at others. Her intense, poetic prose explores and records the rocks, rivers, creatures and hidden aspects of this remarkable landscape.

Extremely poetic

I’m not familiar with the area Nan Shepherd describes, but with extreme detail and descriptive language I loved hearing her familiarity with it. Swinton’s performance was wonderful.

Not especially compelling or memorable
Revisado: 07-14-24
I usually love listening to audiobooks that are deep dives on topics like this, but it all seemed pretty disjointed and nothing sticks out to me as memorable. I think the performance was fine.

Historia
These are the stories that defy conventional logic. The proverbial vanished without a trace incidences, which happen a lot more (and a lot closer to your backyard) than almost anyone thinks. These are the missing whose situations are the hardest on loved ones left behind. The cases that are an embarrassment for park superintendents, rangers, and law enforcement charged with Search & Rescue.

Historia
What’s to be done about a jaywalking moose? A bear caught breaking and entering? A murderous tree? Three hundred years ago, animals that broke the law would be assigned legal representation and put on trial. These days, as New York Times best-selling author Mary Roach discovers, the answers are best found not in jurisprudence but in science: the curious science of human-wildlife conflict, a discipline at the crossroads of human behavior and wildlife biology.

Smart research presented in an easily digestible way
Revisado: 03-17-23
This is probably the fifth or sixth book of hers I’ve read or listened to, and she remains a favorite author of mine. The research follows strings of curiosity but stays connected to factors that affect most people in everyday life. The humor is engaging but never feels corny or grating. The performance is engaging.

Lightweight Intro to a Complicated Topic
- De Earth Lover en 07-15-18
Very informative and enjoyable
Revisado: 11-28-17
First, this was an enjoyable listen-- the lecturer has a pleasant speaking voice. Secondly, I don't have an extensive background knowledge of European history around the middle ages, or of older theological institutions, etc. This series goes in-depth for topics like these that are necessary to understand the subject material. The lecturer was able to flesh out the situations while also not letting the subject matter get too dry.
Overall I definitely recommend purchasing this course.
