Historia
Humpback whales are among the most intelligent animals on Earth. Some scientists believe they might even surpass humans in self-awareness, empathy, and communication skills. In this episode, we swim with a whale as he teams up with other humpbacks to use bubbles to catch fish, rescues a sea lion, and puts his own spin on melodies sung by whales across the Pacific Ocean. This is the world in its natural state, defined by seasons, routines, and cycles. By the time this whale is ready to close one eye and go to sleep, you will be too.

It seems Nature facts are mentally soothing. The narrator's voice is one with the words. With the subtle background sounds of the particular animal's environment furnish the final touch.

Historia
In this special guest episode, I am joined by Joe Goodkin, a Chicago-based singer/songwriter, who tours the country performing his one-man folk-opera interpretation of Homer’s Odyssey. We discuss what it’s like to be a modern bard and how that has shaped his understanding of the Homeric poems and ancient audiences, as well as what it means to be “non-traditional” classicists, and what we can do and have been able to do to promote Classics to a general audience and why that is important. Love both books! Sometimes a bit much with the adjectives and adverbs, as brilliant as they are. The adventure, the characters, locations and of course the dragons. The dragons, the eggs, the care of them and their individual characteristics ring true. Looking forward to book 3!!

Like Rob said," alot of names", in this piece of history. Obviously a lot of research then & now. The conclusion makes sense to me. Especially how the Warren Report had alot of idiots throwing in their nonsensical theories. A must listen to for every American.

Brilliant combination of Madeline Miller's writing and Frazer Douglas' narration. Thoroughly enjoyed every word. So very comfortable listening to Mr. Douglas' voice whether a battle scene or the soft sensitive dialogue between the main characters. Worth listening to again for sure.

The entire trilogy is fabulous! As a history ( primarily Celtic/British Isles) buff , a writer and a Pagan Witch ( I know, it's a mouthful), I was completely pulled in by Harkness' beautifully woven story. One does not have to have any of my afore mentioned, let us say, 'interests', to completely fall into the author's tapestry of romance, history and suspense. Harkness' stunning descriptions with such details that one so easily imagines themself 'there' so as to flow with the story, not wanting to let go. The real beauty for me, was how the truth of magic was so brightly threaded. Thank you Ms.Harkness for reawaking my magic.
