Very disappointing
Revisado: 01-16-25
I gave up about 1/4 of the way, skipped to the end, and realized this book is not worth reading. The characters were all very despicable and unbelievable. I could not care about anyone. The plot made no sense yet was predictable. I do not understand all the glowing reviews. The narration was fantastic. The dog was great and did not die, thank goodness. Hugely disappointing.

First part was spectacular!
Revisado: 09-25-24
This was a wonderful book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I felt the first half of the book was the best I’ve ever read. The second part had a lot of jumping around and it was distracting. I found I had to go back and reread parts. Perhaps it could have been a bit shorter and it would have held together better. At one point I wondered if the author was thinking about this as a movie thus the meandering in the second half. But, all that aside it is one of the best books I’ve read and she is in top 10 of my most favorite authors.

Terrific story, Terrible narrator
Revisado: 08-18-24
I love Jenny Colgan’s books and am going through all of her vast collections. Her stories are rich, interesting, and quirky. I love her sense of humor and find myself laughing out loud. But the poor narrator was unable to capture any male voices. They sounded like ancient old pirates. Her pitch was all off & I actually felt sorry for her. Her American southern accent for a young male also sounded like a wizened 90 year old pirate. It was cringeworthy.

Series is Absolutely Addictive
Revisado: 03-16-24
Jane Casey is a brilliant writer. I started this series midway but went back and read / listened to every one and loved them all. The mysteries are always interesting and complex. Throughout most we see the relationship between a young Detective Mauve and intriguing, dark Josh Derwent, her boss, develop. The 2 plots are interwoven beautifully leaving the reader wanting more. In the end of this book is a shock but Jane Casey in her end notes promises they will return in the next book. Please don’t make us wait another year!!!!

I loved this book. It’s different from the other Josie Quinn books but I feel it’s the best yet. I couldn’t put it down & listened late into the night. I hope she writes more in this style. Good job Lisa Regan! Well done!

Terrific Series
Revisado: 10-25-23
I’ve read and listened to all 3 in this series. The writing and plot in this 3rd book is excellent. It is the best so far. I agree with another reviewer that the actions taken by Em, the beautiful Wonder doctor, detective, hero, medical examiner, girlfriend are over the top silly That’s what I found fun although I did yell at her throughout—- Are you crazy??? I couldn’t put it down. Em’s capers and love life are interesting & again Fun. I loved it. Very much looking forward to the next book ….. and SPOILER ….. I’m convinced her true love Nick will miraculously turn up alive and in one piece having escaped from China. Just sayin’

What a disappointment
Revisado: 07-20-23
I preordered this book months ago. I love Ruth Ware’s books & was so excited when it finally came out. But Zero Days was a big 0. It was boring, repetitious with flat characters I just didn’t care about. I kept thinking it would pick up but it just kept going in circles. I felt the author threw this together and she didn’t care about her characters or the plot either. She started out with a nifty idea but didn’t seem to know where to take it. A real disappointment from a very talented author.

It’s up to DS Maeve Kerrigan and DI Josh Derwent to uncover the truth. Posing as a couple, they move into the Close, blurring the lines between professional and personal as never before.

Absolutely love this series
Revisado: 03-30-23
I just discovered this fantastic series. I read this one first but have now gone back to the beginning. This book is different from her earlier ones and I hope Jane Casey will write more along this line - melding mystery with the Mauve Josh story line. I am so looking forward to the next book. Casey is a fantastic on police procedure, intricate plots, and personal relationships between the police officers. I am really enjoying her earlier books but this one stands out.

Historia
In the early hours of a summer morning, a young woman steps into the path of an oncoming bus. A tragic accident? Or suicide? At the center of this puzzle is Adrian Wolfe, a successful architect and grief-stricken widower, who, a year after his third wife's death, begins to investigate the cause. As Adrian looks back on their brief but seemingly happy marriage, disturbing secrets begin to surface. The divorces from his two previous wives had been amicable, or so it seemed; his children, all five of them, were resilient as ever, or so he thought.

Very Disappointing
Revisado: 03-05-23
I am a huge fan of Lisa Jewell but this book was way below her usual standard. It was boring and held no surprises at all. The characters were not well developed. I got the feeling this book was just thrown together with little effort put forth by the author.
