One of the best alien romance series for sure

i had no idea this was a duet narration and it was jarring at first but now I can't imagine it any other way. Patrick Zeller is a favorite narrator of mine and he did not disappoint here at all. All of his male characters were voiced differently and had their personalities shine through. I love his voices!

I also didn't know this was a series focused around a woman and her mates. I bought these books before my remaining credits expired and honestly, this has been the best blind impulse purchase of my year so far. I absolutely recommend this book! it is action packed, sexy, and full of tender moments and just enough drama to maybe make you shed a tear or two. It does end in a bit of a cliffhanger so if you go in, expect to at least have the second book lined up

I picked this up on sale, it was a stupid decision. I knew the female narrator was bad but the sample made it seem like the male narrator was ok - he wasn't. The story is also a steaming pile of garbage. It is nonsensical, the characters (all of them) are too stupid to live, the story feels AI stitched together, and really has no romance or erotica qualities to save it. You can find unbiased reviews pointing out these issues and more so I wish I had looked them up before giving this "author" a try. This was wasted time and money and I'll not make this mistake again.

This second book isn't nearly as funny as the first and it is simply because both the MMC and the MFC are more serious people. I absolutely love the universe and the Space Mafia Families basically gearing up for war. I just wished it progressed a bit further than it did in this book. Which is really my only complaint, it is a slow. The romance is sweet but slow, the main plot drags in the middle, and the final outcome is a bit rushed. I found the main antagonist predictable, but I think that was purposeful so that you could maybe accept the MFC's but of self loathing. I just didn't think it resonated the way the author intended (at least not to me) since it was a short lived acknowledgement after the reveal.

Overall I really like this series and this author's writing style. I believe there is a 3rd book coming and I plan to listen to it as well (I really like this narrator too) so worth sharing the recommendation.

I wasn't sure what to expect but I was glad it was not as dark as I expected. I do wish them getting together happened earlier so that their HEA wasn't mostly the epilogue. There was just one too many dangerous situations and the MFC was a bit too stupid to live early on, but I think she quickly gets character development to thankfully move past that part.

I picked this up during a sale and I don't regret spending the money on it. Plus I love the narrator so I'm happy to listen to him any time.

I debated picking this title up and I'm so glad I did because it is really good. I loved how the Human expansion in space ended up with what is essentially mob families controlling specific resources or industries. Instead of different aliens controlling parts of space, it is these families which all have unique motivations and capabilities (biomech, genetic, etc.)

I loved the humor, the friendships, and the romance. It ends with and HEA for the couple and a HFN for the crew so no real cliffhanger other than the typical baddies still out there and we're gonna fight back set up.

This is a single POV story from the MFC. I wish it was dual POV, but honestly part of what happens is because of her interpretation of events. It keeps it a little more grounded when things get almost over the top in the story.

This is both a new author and narrator for me and I really like them both so I'll be checking out other works from them.

This is the first book in a follow on series from the book Virgo's Prize, which I really liked. This story would be easier to follow if you have already read that one but it isn't a deal breaker or anything like that.
This story is short, self contained, and sets up all the characters for the other books in this series. so overall, a good start. However, it is absolutely killed by the narrators. they are both stiff and stilted in their voice acting/reading and it just kills any sort of vibe. If I hadn't bought this on the cheap, I would've requested a refund because it was just miserable listening to them. The rest of these books I'll be reading on Kindle because I'm not going to subject myself to more of these awful narrators.

because this is so very short I would only recommend it if if on sale or part of the Plus catalog. If you've read or listened to any of this series you be able to jump right in, which is good, because again, super short at 2hrs max.

I enjoyed how light it was and the narrators were perfect as always.

This was a very short story and had it been edited better to contain the scope I think it would've been great. The issue was too much added on as the story went along and what was already enough background to build from was kept surface level and rushed past for the HEA.

I love Nancey Cummings and I don't know if she was only author of many under the Starr Huntress pen name to contribute to this story or not, but I just expected a bit more coherence to it with her name attached.

I don't regret picking this up during the sale as it still delivers a good world and romance, but I wouldn't recommend it at full price.

I picked this one up because the first book is was a riot to me. It was silly, funny, and steamy. This second book holds none of that same charm. I think the male narrator (Tristan) really let it down. In the first book he went all out with the voices and acting, in this one I couldn't tell characters apart most of the time and while he was trying to give Zerberu that stilted nerd cadence, it ended being applied to all the characters when he was narrating. Aside from the narration, the story drags a bit and near the end when the MFC does yet another "I don't love you move" I just hard rolled my eyes and skipped ahead a few chapters because it was just too much/too predictable for me. It ends well and very cute, but over all the story could've been better. I don't regret getting it and I might get the next book if it goes on deep discount sale, but this isn't going to be a "wish list" series for me. I 100% still recommend the first book because it is just so funny to me.

I'll agree with another reviewer, you are either going to love this or hate it. It is purposefully over-the-top with improbable and impossible situations; however the romance is cute, the plot is fast action, and the narrators (especially Tristan) make it laugh out loud funny! I absolutely love the corny and crude language because it just fits the characters.

My only issue is the forward chapter that does this very boring recap of the universe. It really doesn't matter because it just follows their little side of the story on one planet. Unfortunately I think when you listen to the sample this is all you get. I was able to listen to this first book because it was part of the Plus catalog. So if you can get it that way, give it a listen. I think I might have bought it anyway since it is on sale, which is what my plan is for the next book so I can laugh some more. Just go in knowing it is meant to be a silly romp.
