Amazing narrator, amazing author!
Revisado: 04-21-25
I do wish there was a sequel though, where we get to find out more about life in Sadrel's (sp) other realm. And hear what happened to Morton. But overall, beautiful ending.

Whimbrel House is changing. Merritt and Hulda are raising a family. Owein has signed a marriage contract with the magically compatible Lady Cora, a heavyweight of British nobility who’s an ocean away. And the lovely shape-shifting druid Fallon makes a distractingly fetching friend for Owein. But another change is in the air, and this time it’s something wicked. The greatest wizard of the millennium, Silas Hogwood, is back—after five years dead. New body, same foul scent, and driven by madness and revenge.

I wanted something new, not just bringing back the same villain and repeating the cat and mouse chase
Revisado: 04-12-25
There were some new parts though with the magic. But overall I was pretty exhausted by all of the Silas Hogwood stuff. It was all very expected - same cat and mouse chase as before. Also I strongly disliked how many characters were killed off. Overall my least favorite book of the series. I wished new things happened instead of just rehashing with the old villain again.
But the narrators were FANTASTIC!! ALL 3 AMAZING.

Did you know that a poet named William Drennan was the first to name Ireland the “Emerald Island”? He was referring to the green hills of Ireland’s countryside in his poem “When Erin first rose”. The countryside is what defines Ireland probably the best since, for a long time, it played a major role in the economy and culture of the nation.

Severely lacks storytelling
Revisado: 03-30-25
it's just a list of facts. like an entire King's story is shared in two sentences. then you're on to hearing about the next king in two sentences. it's so fast and there's no storytelling to it. you're just lost. I have no idea who any of these people were or what they did or how the timeline went. because it was just a dry list of timeline points strung together with zero storytelling.

Historia
Google Executive Chairman and ex-CEO Eric Schmidt and former SVP of Products Jonathan Rosenberg came to Google over a decade ago as proven technology executives. At the time, the company was already well-known for doing things differently, reflecting the visionary - and frequently contrarian - principles of founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin. If Eric and Jonathan were going to succeed, they realized they would have to relearn everything they thought they knew about management and business.

Historia
Once upon a time, in the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel's performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop. Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel's the resident pariah of the magic realm. And what’s worse, the dark wizard Tybus swooped in, took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his tyrannical rule.

Totally cute story, so creative, loved it!
Revisado: 11-28-24
Such a cute story with such a creative plot. I loved the entire premise. it was sweet, light, holiday vibes all around, and a perfect book for the holiday season!
My only critique is that there were some pretty unbelievable parts at the end. Not going to spoil it, but those people showing up on the stoop at the exact same time, and right when the subways re-opened.... sureeee. And then the part about eating lots of potato and onion patties, which of course would lead to full on onion breath, and then later kissing.... not a good choice LOL Not to mention, crying and nose blowing immediately before kissing... also prob would not have happened.
But still a super cute story overall!

I wish the volume was more consistent
Revisado: 11-08-24
I don't like having to turn the volume down everything the narrators goes into announcer voice to say stats and announce messages and quest prompts, then when he goes back to regular dialog and narration I have to turn the volume up to hear it. very annoying. keep it all the same volume, I'm driving and can't be dealing with this.
Good book otherwise! I'm glad we finally get NON-battle scenes in between fights. His earlier books in this series were battle after battle, and the characters had no life otherwise, no romance scenes, or tender moments with friends, or heartfelt scenes remembering their families, etc. This book and the last one were better in that regard. Launching into the next book now...!

Slow 1st half, great 2nd half
Revisado: 07-29-24
It didn't get good until chapter 10 (and there are 20 chapters total).
super creative magic ideas.
I liked the love story parts the best.
I wish the author described what the characters looked like more beyond eye color. it was hard to picture these people. (By the last chapter I finally found out Win's hair color - did I miss it in the beginning? If so, it was vaguely mentioned - not enough to remember. I'd been picturing him like Jacob Black from Twilight. But evidently, he is blonde-haired, brown-eyed.)
The ending was very rushed (like many others have already mentioned in the reviews).

Background sound effects are so loud you can't hear narrators
Revisado: 05-31-24
Graphic Audio, you can't blare the background sound effects and expect that we can still hear to narration! It's grating. Also, don't you know people listen to audiobooks while driving, doing chores, on noisy commutes... we are not in silent theaters with expensive surround sound speakers. And even if we were, the sound effects were still too loud.
