I was always hesitant to give Sookie Stackhouse a shot, but I'm glad I did and I'm glad it was with this narrator. Her accent is perfect.

Very "Matter of fact"

The case is heart-wrenching, but I wouldn't call this a book so much as a report. It's very repetitive, lists out the facts and only the facts, and in some instance, the court report is being read, seemingly verbatim. It's too dry for my liking, however the case is interesting. I only wish there was more emotion put into the telling.

As a major fan of the Outlander universe, I can appreciate how this collection answers a few questions on unfinished story lines in the main series (Outlander/Lord John). I stumbled across it while making my way through the Lord John series, and I wanted to do so chronologically.
I will say the way the stories are assembled in the book doesn't make much sense to me. I would've preferred if they went chronologically, or were even grouped together by character/family relevance (i.e the Grey's stories all together and in order followed by the Fraser/Mackenzie/Murray's stories). I think it would've helped me keep my bearings in terms of time frames/where they fit in the overarching Jamie/Claire story that I have in my mind. Still, a great collection, would highly recommend it to all Outlander fans.
