Historia
Detectives never found the knife used to murder Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. They thought it was in a small backpack dumped at LAX the night of the murders. They assumed it disappeared in an LA County landfill. OJ's Knife tells a different tale. Two airport workers found the backpack in the trash. Unaware the murder weapon was inside, they planned to return the “lost” backpack to OJ. When OJ was arrested the next day, LAX workers Gordon Grove and his friend Luther Malcolm realized they had the murder weapon. So what now?

It’s like a trip back in time
Revisado: 06-09-24
WOW! That was a fun ride This book does a great job transporting you back to the 1990’s! It gets a lot of the details right and you are along for a pre-social media era where the 24 hour news cycle wasn’t quite a thing. Written by someone who has extensive experience in newsrooms of the time and into the 21st century John Gibson does a wonderful job of making that world come alive.
The story itself is exceptional. I mean we know how it went down. But this ‘what if.’ scenario is a thrilling alternative to an otherwise oft repeated story. What I really enjoyed was the old gum shoe noir aspect of the writing. It had the feel of a story like Double Endemnity or films of that era. The story had more twists than the actual game of twister and it kept you guessing until the end. This was such a delightful read and now whenever the real life story is mentioned I will think about Mikey Judge (who actually reminds me of the author from his news coverage days !)
The only criticism I have is the editing of the audio book. The break between chapters is really long (in audiobook time scale). Several times I had to check to see if I had stopped the book. It’s a small thing but it was a thing.

Historia
Through an accident of science tens of millions of Americans have been transformed into ravenous cannibals. But this is far from a zombie apocalypse. So long as they satisfy their hunger for human flesh, these cannibals can still think—and those that do have rebuilt America into a twisted mockery of what once stood before. Now, civilization has been replaced by an anarchy of city states and warring cannibal factions, each pursuing the same dark purpose: To harvest human meat.

Great Twist on a Genre
Revisado: 04-19-22
Just when you think you’ve read every type of Zombie/Apocalypse type of book along comes this gem. It’s premise is a huge paradigm shift on what’s been a tried and true model. I won’t tell you spoilers but it’s refreshing and really makes you look at the whole Apocalypse scenario from a completely different angle.
It does mirror some of the recent unpleasantness that we’ve had to endure the last few years so hopefully no one takes this as prophetic. (Although I did just order my steak medium RARE instead of medium….). It does almost give you a feeling you’re closer to the story line. Because you hear the same arguments and see some of the predicted outcomes
The narration was fine. No Skippy and the Merry Band of Pirates but not you 11th Grade Econ teacher either. Good pace not monotone decent characters
I recommend this book wholeheartedly. The only hiccup is waiting for the series to continue on Audible. I mean….I may have to start reading!

Where it all begins (again)
Revisado: 02-23-20
This is a tightly packed action adventure. It does a great job toying with your emotions. The author has you rooting for who you think you should only to find out the good guy isn’t so good. And the innocent is t so innocent. My favorite character was a secondary one, Mitark (I don’t know how to spell his name ). His character is written is susceptible a way as to give you a clear look at what ordinary people feel when they are committing brave acts. I’ve met these people. The author nails it.
The narration starts out a bit choppy but gets better as time goes by.
Really enjoyed it and was immediately hooked.

Swift and Brutal
Revisado: 01-29-20
Ok. I normally have been ok with the abbreviated stories when it comes to the audio book. But man I wish this one was longer. This was a fast paced and intense ride. I do wish they had taken more time to develop some of the characters and story lines but if you just wanna follow Wil and his adventures this doesn’t miss a beat. The author does an incredibly good job of ratcheting up the brutality in a realistic way. Which in part makes the shorter format good...because it lets your mind do the imagining instead of being told. Plot twists? Yes please. This series is like the King of Plot twists. And it’s a credit to the author that they are all viable and believable.
I love these books and this series. I cannot wait for the next. .

Perfect Title
Revisado: 01-13-20
As the header says this is the perfect title to this book. There are so many twists and turns that when you think you figured what’s next....remember who Wil and the gang are up against! Murderous Polks Bands? You’ll get them! Militant Senior Citizens? You won’t see that coming. This book shows how even the best concepts and ideas can be destroyed by Bureaucracy and the Box is on the verge of it happening to them. Are there going to be enough strong personalities without agendas left?
On two non story notes. First it’s a bold move to have the New York scenario. But it comes off really well done. Secondly, I normally don’t like Audible books this short, but I’m making an exception in this case. These books are non stop action. I mean you go from one scene to the next with very little if any ‘filler’. And for the most part you don’t miss much. So if you’re like me and prefer longer Audible titles, take a flier on these and you won’t be disappointed

Things are about to get real!
Revisado: 01-09-20
Yep, you got left with a cliff hanger on the last novel, so you’d THINK we’d pick right up again from there. But you’d be wrong. No spoilers but.....
Will is growing up. The fish out of water is now learning to swim. What made him so good now May cost him everything. But you have to learn from the school of hard knocks here.
One thing I love about this series is the point in time when it took place. No cell phones. No fancy high tech gadgets to fall back on. And in Israel you have a Country finally realizing it’s now becoming a Nation among Nations and the people who made it that way now must rethink their paradigm. You have the Russian threat and a new Arab threat as well. Are Will’s Nazi Hunting Days over?
My only question is: What happened to the vendor with the tea truck?

No Good Deed.....
Revisado: 01-09-20
Wil is now fully committed to his new life. But it is still coming at him fast and furious. We get to focus now on Avenger -31 too start with. We revisit her and where she’s been, what she’s done, what’s been done to her...l.and what she’s going to do. Oh but that’s just the beginning. We still see how Wil has a trace of humanity left. He has not been completely desensitized and still want to make the World a better place. Even his new country. But new friends become newer enemies. In this installment we see just how far everyone, good, bad and in between is willing to go for what they believe is right. And to get Retribution!
Best book in the series to date IMO

Such a Refresh Take
Revisado: 01-07-20
The story itself continues to be a refreshing take on a tried and true genre. Ever read a thriller and ask yourself “How do these characters ever grow up to be spies/agents/assassins?” Well if you haven’t, you should. And this book and series tells you a great story of how that happens. You do get introduced to a lot of new characters and (quasi spoiler) quite a few die. But it’s a great story of coming of age to be a spy part 2. A couple of great plot twists that I won’t ruin for you and a little bit of Thunderdome action as well. Will H gets put through the ringer and you wonder if the guy ever has an emotional breaking point, but what I also enjoy about this series is the Hero is not imbued with any super natural grit that lets them shed bullets wounds and bad guys with ease. Nope, our guy Will feels everything and you follow him as he is mentally processing the confusing surroundings he finds himself in.
I’m looking forward to the rest of these books and it’s spin offs as well

How did a starving artist from San Francisco become Israel's most lethal deep-cover operative? It all starts with Book One: Among Wolves. Growing up in 1970s San Francisco as a young artist, Will finds himself at odds with his Nazi war-criminal grandfather and radical jihadist mother.

An unusual take on an old genre
Revisado: 01-07-20
The story is 5 Star Plus. The narrator is very monotone but not horrible. Which is a shame because this book is so fascinating.
About the book...I guess you could call it a “Coming of Age Spy Story”. Most books give a brief back story to their main characters. Some quick blurb about some tragedy that happened that made them who they are today. THIS book tells the entire story of growing up that way. What it’s like to be pulled in two different worlds. What it’s like not to just have one tragedy visited upon you but many. What I found refreshing in this book is that you saw how Will deals with it as he grows up. Not as some super hero soldier but as a regular person. It shows the systematic progression of what happened to make our relevant Will who he became.
Absolutely loved the take on it. The human dynamics were great. Watching enemies become frenemies, strangers become enemies etc was very suspenseful. Can’t wait for the others. Only reason it got 4 stars was because of the narrator.
