Historia
The Achaemenid Persian kings ruled over the largest empire of antiquity, stretching from Libya to the steppes of Asia and from Ethiopia to Pakistan. In Persians, historian Lloyd Llewellyn-Jones tells the epic story of this dynasty and the world it ruled. Drawing on Iranian inscriptions, cuneiform tablets, art, and archaeology, he shows how the Achaemenid Persian Empire was the world’s first superpower—one built, despite its imperial ambition, on cooperation and tolerance. This is the definitive history of the Achaemenid dynasty and its legacies in modern-day Iran.

Historia
During a train trip from Chicago to Texas in the late 1940s, A.W. Tozer began to write The Pursuit of God. He wrote all night, and when the train arrived at his destination, the rough draft was done. The depth of this book has made it an enduring favorite.

A message so Profound & Transcendent…yet so Simple & Real
Revisado: 11-22-23
This is a message for the ages, resonating deep and transcendent spiritual truths, yet extremely accessible, such that one does not need to be a scholar or theologian to grasp and apply these basic truths that are so enlightening and transformative.

Historia
The Viking Age - from 750 to 1050 saw an unprecedented expansion of the Scandinavian peoples into the wider world. As traders and raiders, explorers and colonists, they ranged from eastern North America to the Asian steppe. But for centuries, the Vikings have been seen through the eyes of others, distorted to suit the tastes of medieval clerics and Elizabethan playwrights, Victorian imperialists, Nazis, and more. None of these appropriations capture the real Vikings, or the richness and sophistication of their culture.

Holistic narrative of Viking Age
Revisado: 08-24-23
Overall a strong presentation of Viking age, both culture and diverse influences and trade, dispelling many Hollywood tropes and myths. That said, brief sections go down the path of projecting 21st Century narratives about “Gender Identities” and sexuality, which is largely out of place and out of time, and seems to pander to modern liberal ideologies based on marginal evidence at best, over a fair representation of the historical record. Despite that, I recommend this work as a fresh representation of the topic.

Historia
In December 1929, in a cave near Peking, a group of anthropologists and archaeologists that included a young French Jesuit priest named Pierre Teilhard de Chardin uncovered a prehuman skull. The find quickly became known around the world as Peking Man and was acclaimed as the missing link between erect hunting apes and our Cro-Magnon ancestors. It also became a provocative piece of evidence in the roiling debate over creationism versus evolution.
