Historia
Midlife is sheer madness, and the facts of midlife are not taught in school. Unfortunately, some lessons are hellishly hard to learn. I thought I had it figured out. I was wrong. Proving I’m the Angel of Mercy is turning into a shitshow of epic proportions. Not too long ago, I was a 40-year-old gal with a stable and boring life ahead of me. Now? Not so much. I have celestial siblings who are no walk in the park. Their decisions can destroy my future. And of course, my predecessor has given me a month to do the impossible or I’ll lose everything that means anything to me.

Hadley Hunter is living the good life until a group of authors shows up on Moonstone Bay, and one of them clearly has murder on their mind. Jasmine Riley was the lone female writer in a male-dominated genre, and she was on top of her game. When she winds up dead in the ditch on the highway outside of the city, suspicion turns to her competition. There’s just one problem...the culprit might be supernatural.

Historia
With the darkness on the horizon, I need to clear my name and get to work. Forming a Goodness Army is on the top of the list. Shockingly, my army consists of my wacky-tabacky-smoking aunt, my high school counselor who can shift into a house cat, the town gossip who turns invisible after downing five beers, and a few fabulous others with nefarious talents. And of course, a cast of fictional characters...who I created and definitely have an opinion on how I should proceed.

Historia
Mystery author Rachel Goldman is getting used to the idea that her fictional creation, Duffy Madison, has somehow taken flesh-and-blood form and is investigating missing person cases not far from where Rachel lives. Wait. No. She's not getting used to it at all, and the presence of this real-life Duffy is making her current manuscript - what's the word? - lousy.

Historia
Three years ago in a large Victorian house on the Jersey Shore in the town of Harbor Haven, fledgling private investigator Paul and his client, Maxie Malone, were murdered. Since then, recent divorcée and reluctant ghost whisperer Alison Kerby and her 10-year-old daughter, Melissa, have moved in and converted the place to a guesthouse, where Maxie and Paul are now checked in for an eternity and ready to solve any case that comes their way - or at least spook the guests (who love it). Alison’s got a lot on her plate at the moment, however, so when Paul discovers the 300-year-old ghost of a small boy in the house, he decides not to involve her in the case.

I absolutely loved the story but struggled to get past the narration, the voice of Paul was good but the female voices were horrible.

Nancy Warren has done it again!
Revisado: 04-05-21
Another great baking show mystery, I love Poppy just the right amount of Snark, curiosity, empathy and personality. Her connection to the hawk in this book is intriguing and something I’d like to see evolve. I love the rest of the characters they make for a well rounded story, one of my favorites being jerry the ghost, and frankly as the books go on I hope he never moves on because I think he’s fun. Great read.

I can remember a time when I baked for fun. I loved dreaming up new recipes, trying different combinations of flavors. Sharing my creations with friends and family. Now? I have nightmares where the TV cameras are on me and I’m baking naked. Or I open my oven and my cake pans are empty. You don’t need to be Freud to figure out I’m freaking out. This week on The Great British Baking Contest could be my last. I am one bad bake away from being waved good-bye.

I really am enjoying watching Poppy evolve and come into her own not only as a baker, but as a witch, and a detective, As the series has gone on it’s fun to watch Poppy’s magic expand I hope the next book in the series it’s going to show even more of her abilities, as she gets closer to figuring out her parentage that she’ll find a love interest I know who I have in mind. .
I really like the way Nancy Warren Inc. expanded on all the bakers and Jerry, creating a kind of detective team, with just the right amount of friendship and involvement.
For anyone that enjoys paranormal cozy mystery is this series is a definite yes, it fulfills and more all the things that you would want in the genre
I am so excited for Blood sweat and tiers, book 5 hopefully to be released an audio soon.

A great mix of fun and excitement
Revisado: 01-23-21
I was so looking forward to book 3 Rolling Scone and I definitely was not disappointed! I was thrilled with the perfect amount of humor and suspense combined with the evolving characters it is a wonderful mix, from Poppy herself, to the nonpretentious lady ophelia, Hamish, the funny ghost of Jerry and more. I really enjoy Poppy’s determination to find her birth family and watching her amazement as her witch powers develop, Her ability follow her instincts brings just the right amount of suspense.
And of course the narrating by Hollis Mcarthy is spot on. I found myself making extra time to listen just to keep up with the story.
Looking forward to book 4 in this fun series

Revisado: 01-09-21
I am a huge paranormal cozy mystery Sam and I love Hollis McCarthy. The Great Witches Baking Show didn’t disappoint though I’ve never watched the tv show I’m sure I didn’t miss anything. Poppy is such a likable Heroine and Hollis McCarthy just captures all the characters with all the variety of accent to make it even more enjoyable. I definitely think it had all the elements you want in a paranormal cozy mystery. It had fun, never had suspense, it had likable characters a definite must read!
