Can't believe people give this five stars

While I appreciate what the author is trying to get across about domestic violence, the writing is terrible. But the worst part was the narrator. She sounds like she's narrating for children. It sounded cutesy even during the the serious plot lines. It took me a year to get through this it was so awful and I wish I hadn't wasted the time or the credit.

One of my favorite Anne Tyler books. Very warm and uplifting. A good read that I needed right now.
