Historia
There are tales of Middle-earth from times long before The Lord of the Rings. The story told in this book is set in the great country that lay beyond the Grey Havens in the West: lands where Treebeard once walked, but which were drowned in the great cataclysm that ended the First Age of the World.

Narration makes it difficult to follow
Revisado: 03-20-17
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Maybe. Christopher Lee is a great actor, but a lousy narrator. I found it difficult to find the storyline interesting due to his boring narration.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Still trying to get through the story
How could the performance have been better?
ABSOLUTELY needs a better narrator.
Do you think The Children of Hurin needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
I think it needs a total do-over with the same story, different voice narrating.
Any additional comments?
I'm still working on getting through it. It becomes so boring and monotonous that I find I am not actually hearing the words or following the story.

Not the old CD version
Revisado: 11-23-12
What did you love best about The Hobbit?
The story
Who was your favorite character and why?
None in particular
Have you listened to any of Rob Inglis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Not that I know
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
No
Any additional comments?
I had the old CD version of the Hobbit and nearly wore it out listening to it. I was a bit disappointed by this new version, I don't care for some of the character interpretation or voices, but that's probably because I am accustomed to different ones. The story doesn't change however. The main thing that I do not like in this audio book vs. a reading book is the singing of all the songs. While the narrator has a good singing voice, I don't think that the dwarves and hobbit would have such a cultured singing voice. I find myself wanting to skip forward over the songs. Overall, I believe that most listeners would enjoy this book.

Historia
Stephanie Harrington had always expected to be a forest ranger on her homeworld of Meyerdahl until her parents relocated to the frontier planet of Sphinx in the far distant Star Kingdom of Manticore. It should have been the perfect new home - a virgin wilderness full of new species of every sort, just waiting to be discovered. But Sphinx is a far more dangerous place than ultra-civilized Meyerdahl, and Stephanie's explorations come to a sudden halt when her parents lay down the law: no trips into the bush without adult supervision!

A tossup between Stephanie and Lionheart.

Historia
For the first time in more than three years, best-selling authors Anne McCaffrey and Todd McCaffrey have teamed up again to do what they do best: add another chapter to the Dragonriders of Pern. Even though Lorana cured the plague that was killing the dragons of Pern, sacrificing her queen dragon in the process, the effects of the disease were so devastating that there are no longer enough dragons available to fight the fall of deadly Thread. And as the situation grows more dire, a pregnant Lorana decides that she must take drastic steps in the quest for help.

Rather disappointing
Revisado: 08-22-12
Would you try another book from Anne McCaffrey and Todd McCaffrey and/or Emily Durante?
I love Anne McCaffrey books, but her son Todd does not quite seem to have her gift, and Emily Durante definitely does NOT make for an enjoyable listen. Having her as narrator is almost enough to prevent me from listening at all.
If you’ve listened to books by Anne McCaffrey and Todd McCaffrey before, how does this one compare?
I love pretty much anything that Anne has written, I am nearly always very disappointed by Todd's work, however.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Her voice is too high pitched to be comfortable and when she attempts to alter her voice to indicated a man's character, it comes out sounding very badly.
Could you see Dragon's Time being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
No, I cannot. I would love to see a movie being made of Anne's early Pern series, but not the later books.
Any additional comments?
It is a shame that Anne has passed on leaving Todd to continue Pern. She attempted to involve him while she could still contribute, but his stamp is undeniable and leaves much to be desired. This story is far too much about the characters and their feelings and way too little about the situation they are in. It is also very disjointed and the entire storyline is so chopped up that one cannot piece it all together. Not at all the quality one would expect of a Pern novel.
