Historia
Richard Brautigan's world is one of gentle magic and marvelous laughter, of the incredibly beautiful and the beautifully incredible. Trout Fishing in America is a pseudonym for the miraculous. A journey that begins at the foot of the Benjamin Franklin statue in San Francisco's Washington Square, that wanders through the wonders of America's rural waterways, and that ends, inevitably, with mayonnaise. Funny, wild, and sweet, Trout Fishing in America is an incomparable guidebook to the delights of exploration.

His words are even more relevant now than they were then. He was there at the Beginning of the Communist Revolutionary Take Over of America. He was Warning All of us and few had the ears to hear back then. It’s No Wonder He Killed Himself. He was too sensitive to live in this world.

Historia
Professor Theo Cray is trained to see patterns where others see chaos. So when mutilated bodies found deep in the Montana woods leave the cops searching blindly for clues, Theo sees something they missed. Something unnatural. Something only he can stop. As a computational biologist, Theo is more familiar with digital code and microbes than the dark arts of forensic sleuthing.

Gruesome
Revisado: 09-14-18
The science was good but the details of death and killing was over the top. I only listened to the last third of the book because I wanted to find out how the killer was killed. It was too drawn out in gruesome details.

Enjoyed Immensely!
Revisado: 06-29-18
Loved the perspective of the Civil War from the life of such a wonderful person. I grew up in the South (Georgia)and lived my adult life in the North (Syracuse & Rochester). Now I’m old and have lived here in Charlottesville Virginia for 30 years and could relate to the character and emotional lives of the history of this American story.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves hearing about the lives of Real People!

Historia
This lush novel, set in 1766 England and America, evokes an era ripe with riot and revolution, from the teeming streets of London to the sprawling grounds of a Virginia plantation. Mack McAsh burns with the desire to escape his life of slavery in Scottish coal mines while Lizzie Hallim is desperate to shed a life of sheltered subjugation to her spineless husband. United in America, their only chance for freedom lies beyond the Western frontier - if they're brave enough to take it.

Ken is such a Great Story Teller!
Revisado: 03-02-18
The quality of Ken’s stories always have twists and turns that can never be predicted. The first one I listened to was Pillars of the Earth and there were parts of the story I had to stop what I was doing and listen like I couldn’t take my eyes off it. This was the same right to the dramatic ending. His writing creates pictures in your mind that stay with you long after finishing the book. The narration was wonderful too with a lot of different qualities between characters.

The scope and reality of this final volume in the Bearth Trilogy is happening around you right now in the daily news. The wars, the religious genocide, the economic and political corruption are all real. The story is true. The cataclysms are possible. The places are real. None of the names have been changed, because they are all guilty. Only the characters of the story are created to carry you through the events at the ground level. When you finish this final volume of the trilogy, you will never look at life or death the same again. Are you ready for the change?

Historia
The legendary British actor Terence Stamp reads the book that he says 'changed his life'. This is an exploration of our existence and a journey towards enlightenment. In what the author calls 'the fine print' at the start of the book, David Carse wrote: 'There are many books out there that will help you to live a better life, become a better person, and evolve and grow to realise your potential as a spiritual being. This is not one of them....'

Historia
Auckland Island is a godforsaken place in the middle of the Southern Ocean, 285 miles south of New Zealand. With year-round freezing rain and howling winds, it is one of the most forbidding places in the world. To be shipwrecked there means almost certain death. In 1864, Captain Thomas Musgrave and his crew of four aboard the schooner Grafton wreck on the southern end of the island. Utterly alone in a dense coastal forest, plagued by stinging blowflies and relentless rain, Captain Musgrave inspires his men to take action.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I got as far as chapter 10 and I just couldn't listen to the sad, sad killing of the sea lion pups and the effect it had on the mothers. The story of survival was interesting but the constant killing of seals described in great detail was making me feel Very Sad.
I got the book because it had such great reviews. The constant killing was not for me.

Revisado: 10-16-16
I love you David. I was born in 1950 and I am so grateful that you are out in front leading the way. You are the goose at the head of the V taking on the full headwinds. Many of us are an inspiration to those around us and they don't know that this is the only way we can live our lives. I want to thank you for being the voice that so many of us can relate to. Great job with this book as with all your books. I know I will listen to it more then once!

Historia
When first published in 1759, Candide became an instant best seller and is now regarded as one of the key texts of the Enlightenment. Voltaire’s preoccupations with evil and with various kinds of human folly and intolerance found a perfect vehicle in this philosophical tale. A master storyteller, he combined often wildly entertaining action with profoundly serious sense, parodying the traditional chivalric and oriental tales with which his public was more familiar.
