Historia
Most people think success comes from good luck or enormous talent, but many successful people achieve their accomplishments in a simpler way: through self-discipline. Brian Tracy knows this firsthand. He didn’t graduate from high school, and after working for a few years as a laborer, he realized he had limited skills and a limited future. But through the power of self-discipline, he changed his life.

Talks to you like a child
Revisado: 09-03-12
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The writing had some good things in it, but read like it was a McCarthy era book. Take out the spoon feeding examples of virtue in politics. There are a lot of political statements like about why American has such great honest politicians and why other countries don't because of principles in this book. This is demeaning as a reader because the self help "expert" shows political ignorance to exemplify principles in the book. Do not invent yourself as an expert in a complex and completely separate subject. Especially with what sounds like a brainwashing speech made for a child audience.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Brian Tracy?
Palin

Amazing!
Revisado: 09-03-12
Would you listen to The Serial Killer Whisperer again? Why?
Yes and I have relistened to the beginning again already. This story is fascinating and the insight it gives the listener on top of that, quality.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Serial Killer Whisperer?
The letter from the killers themselves are chilling, but this is why I chose this book.
What about Alan Sklar’s performance did you like?
Perfect voice for reading a killer's words. It grumbled ever so slightly when reciting the letters from serial killers without ever going overboard while reading everything else.
Any additional comments?
Some reviews mark down the book because it is graphic, but what kind of book did they think they were listening too? The letters from serial killers in this book are obviously going to be graphic, but please don't mark the book down because you expected otherwise from these murderers. Much of this book exposes what serial killers did and thought at the times in their lives when they performed these horrible acts. Gross yes, but a glimpse into something you can't find in many other books on the subject.

Historia
Two Years Before the Mast, written by Richard Henry Dana, provides a vivid account of "the life of a common sailor at sea". Dana sails from Boston, around Cape Horn, stopping in several ports along the California coast including San Diego, San Pedro, Santa Barbara, and San Francisco. On the return trip around Cape Horn in the middle of the Antarctic winter Dana describes terrifying storms and incredible beauty, giving vivid descriptions of icebergs and the scurvy that afflicts members of the crew.

New Reader please
Revisado: 09-03-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Two Years Before the Mast to be better than the print version?
No, the reader was a very poor choice for this recording.
What didn’t you like about Pat Bottino’s performance?
He sounded too old. Not just his voice, but his manner of reading. The adventures of a young man are read by a stuffy sounding museum tour guide voice. I'd prefer better talent or at least someone who engages the text when they read instead of this reader.
